So... what do you think? All criticism/comments will be appreciated... :)

Demo

Okay, I've decided to release a tiny (very tiny - like it will take you less than 5 minutes to play through it) demo of the area in MAP01 that I have finished mapping. This demo I released so you can see ingame the style I'm using and know what to expect from the rest of the wad. There are also enemies and items so there is a little gameplay. Without further ado, the link - http://files.drdteam.org/index.php/file ... nydemo.zip

Also, thanks Enjay for letting me use the sky from one of his mods :).

 Yeah...
Well I had an idea like this for Hexen mod for a while. I wanted to make some big, epic mod - but I know that if I tried something big like that I would most likely get tired of it in 5 minutes and quit. If it's smaller like this I'll finish it.
since the screenshots doesnt show that much.
I'm almost done with MAP01 - So you can expect more screenshots tomorrow or later today...

Also, what do you think - do the Daggerfall sprites (bushes, grass) fit in with Hexen's textures?

Like the small steamy swamp in shot 1, but shot 2 is lacking.

Well, the place in shot 1 is finished - shot 2 unfinished. Also, you say it looks like swamp - its supposed to be a shrine in a cave :).

Also, another screenshot of a ruin of an house:

Btw, I would like to use a texture made with Doom palette in Hexen. But it looks all strange - Is there a program that converts from Doom to Hexen palette? :?:

I love your style. I have to adopt it for my hexen rpg XD
But uhh, where did you get those shrubs?

Constructive: [wiki=MAPINFO_options_for_GZDoom%27s_GL_renderer]Skyfog[/wiki] , if it's a gzdoom project.

 Believe it or not this is one of my first maps.
The mapping itself isn't that good - I just added a crapload of grass and bushes to hide the fact that the map itself is crap.

Daggerfall texture pack, look for it here on the forums - it's great. :) It also has a ton of NPCs you can use for your RPG.
Please tell me that's all photoshopped work...
I photoshopped (and Imagestyler-ed :)) the Hexen and DoC logo onto the screenshot and added a colorless light to the screenshot to make it look... nicer. But the coloured lights and everything else are in the map itself.

I wanted to use another sky that fits, but I don't know how to convert a texture to Hexen palette. :( :?:
Constructive: Skyfog , if it's a gzdoom project.
Thanks :) that might be useful - I'll check it out.

--> ! Update ! ~ Kicked out all RPG features. DoC is now just a simple linear map pack for Hexen. This was done out of fear that if I attempt to go through with the original plan (which was a bit complicated) I might get bored of it and quit working.

If anyone wishes to help you can submit a map or 2 :). No particular style is needed, just they should be fun to play and okay looking. Also if you include custom monsters/items, PM me them in a separate wad so I can include them in my DoC wad.

that looks very nice, you are quite a new guy but you got the hang of mapping pretty fast, i like the use of the vegetation objects, it really adds up to make an epic nature, its not the first time i've seen it, and its not the first time i'm amazed by the looks of it. :)

keep up the good work, make sure to fix the fog :P

as for changing to hexen palette, you can do it in Slade3 but doing so directly like that will probably screw your colors, if you have photoshop (or gimp i dont know) you could select the image, do a gradient map on it, pick the gradients colors directly from the hexen palette, and then change it to a indexed format (this way you can apply the hexen palette) and then save as png or bmp

But I use vegetation only to cover up that the mapping itself sucks.

Already did. I'll be posting some new screenshots of it soon.

Okay, new screenshot that shows pretty much everything I've done on MAP01:Dawn so far
Image
To the left you can see the ruined house from the previous screenshot.
To the right the sign from the 2nd screenshot,
And straight in that cave, the shrine from the 1st screenshot.
