[Request] Wind blowing sounds
I don't recall ever hearing one in any wads but I was just wondering if there were good sounds for different types of wind.

Re: [Request] Wind blowing sounds
Most modern games seem to have 2 or 3 wind sounds, sometimes gusting, sometimes looping, sometimes howling sometimes just a little background noise. I don't have any immediately handy, but I know that I have come across quite a lot of them when poking through the resources of various games.

I'm certain that Unreal has some of them.

Pretty sure all of the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games have some wind sounds.

Re: [Request] Wind blowing sounds
I made a few for use in Junko just by taking white noise and filtering it. That works pretty well for hiss from an air vent or airplane engines. You could probably use the same technique to make outdoor wind just by filtering more and having the filter change a bit over time (so the wind doesn't sound constant).
What kind of wind are you looking for?

Gusting sounds, quiet wind sounds. Anything that would work great as ambiance.
(Links to the aforementioned sounds would be great too, instead of saying where to get them.

Alright, I made this up just now. To actually use it in a level you'd probably want to randomize playing this along with other similar sounds. Maybe have a version played backwards or with the pitch changed a bit or something.

If you like this I could whip up a few more...
Actually there's probably good wind sounds in other WADs already. But it's easier to make these up than to go hunting for them.

I made 4 more. Some are more gusty, some more ambient. You'd probably want to mix down to mono and down the sample rate before using them in any levels. If you're in a forest you might want to mix in some leaf rustling noises, too.

Edit:
Here is a zip containing 12 wind sounds from various games including, Duke Nukem 3D, Duke Nukem Manhattan Project, Redneck Rampage, Shadow Warrior, and some I don't know where they're from exactly.
