Janitor Adventure 3D

Post by TOGoS »

Hey all, here is a new WAD from TOGoS and Fizz. You may remember us from such WADs as:
  • Crapi
Our new project is called either "Janitor Adventure 3D" or "Junko" (it's not really junk - honest), and you can download it from http://www.nuke24.net/projects/Junko/ (that page also includes the readme and some screenies). Fizz actually started working on this while we were still working on Crapi. Some of the levels had work started on them back in 2004. We were about to release it in summer 2008 but then got crazy and added all sorts of scripting and effects and even a few new levels. But now it's finally done; yay!

We'll probably go post on /idgames next week or so, but the reviewers on doomworld hate everything that's not just like Doom 2 levels, so we're letting you guys have at it first.

Exploring and finding all the little secrets is a big part of this WAD, so if you must go noclipping/changemapping through, please don't spout off about it too much without spoiler tags. All comments welcome, especially about any huge embarrassing bugs that we might've somehow missed during the past 2 months of testing.

Thanks and have fun,
- Fizz and TOGoS

This is pretty neat so far. I'm only on the first map, and the gameplay seems sort-of spread out so far, but it's some cool mapping and detailing. Good job!

Actually, depending on who's reviewing it can range from either of the two.

Well sure, assuming your definition of "sucks" is "not just like Doom 2". I've played several interesting/enjoyable levels that they rated 'not worth downloading'. On the other hand, stick the player in a bunch of boxy rooms with a double barreled shotgun and lots of revenants and they'll think it's great. Getting the player to hold down the fire key the whole time wasn't really what were going for, so if that's your thing feel free to go download something else.

Thanks for the mirror, supergoofy. nearlyfreespeech.net's servers seem to have little hiccups sometimes.

Edit: Alright, to be fair, not all the reviews are like that. But that's the general impression I have. Maybe they've gotten better lately.

My pleasure; I'm always eager to help clear up any misunderstandings formed out of lame excuses.

Did you even try the wad? It may not play like a masterpiece, but some effort did go into it. Saying that it sucks just sucks.

I didn't say his wad sucked, I was merely responding to his insinuation/accusation.
