Questions about how the doom shotgun sound was made
So the doom shotgun sound uses a modified version of the explosion sound (according to perkristians site and the doom wiki), my question is, how was it modified? what was done to it to make it into the shotgun sound we all know and love? ive tried messing with the explosion sound to recreate it (messing with the pitch and other shit like that), but none of it works, what was done to the explosion sound to make it into the shotgun sound?

Re: Questions about how the doom shotgun sound was made
Honestly I don't know what they did with the rest of the explosion to make the sound, but the beginning isn't too weird. The explosion sound starts with some quiet noise, followed by the big boom. the shotgun sound cuts out a bit of that big boom, from right when it starts getting noisy, and puts that before the silence. That'll get you to the main part of the sound. the noise after that I don't really have a good explanation for, but it seems like it was somehow sourced from the explosion noise overall. (I'm not a sound guy, so I don't have a copy of the high quality one. I'm using one of the xplo sounds sourced from the id vault for testing). For the cock, they took DSSGCOCK pretty much as is, cut out a good chunk of the silence between the two clicks, and added that at the end.
