A mysterious incident has caused the barrier between the spiritual and the physical to be shattered,
letting evil of all shapes and sizes bleed into our dimension.
Somewhere in the streets of Japan, a student disappears,
dragged into Hell's arterial system by one of these dimensional wounds.
She doesn't know what she did to deserve such punishment,
but what she does know is that she must survive at all costs, and escape the Spiral once and for all.
Red Spiral 1993 is a mod inspired by PS1 survival horror games and RPG Maker horror games, about a student's attempts at surviving Hell itself.
This looks awesome, but the download link has restricted access.

Holy crap, you gave us a new trilogy from the start! I really like the idea of your starting weapon being a kendo stick to upgrade to a katana eventually.

Monster packs, i recommend the Lovecraft/Silent Hill monster pack, SUAB Monsters, EVP Monsters and Project Malice, map packs i'd say anything in like with Doom 64's architecture.

I just tried this out, feels VERY on spot and feels solid, but I think it goes into "Weak survivor" a hair too much, as it doesn't take too much past a Doom 2 level 1 start to overwhelm the player.
Case in point, I tried Scythe 1 and the small immediate greeting party of Imps and zombiemen ripped me to shreds without too much trouble on the higher difficulties.
I would strongly recommend players mix "critical hits" with this, so map starts with more enemies are decently possible at higher difficulties.

Checking it out what is it about and as someone who loves survival horror games especically in the 90s, you actually nailed it for me! I recorded the demo play of your mod with the music pack mod i am working on (hint another gem from the late 90s)!

Not sure if you tried this yet, but going with the medium difficulty seems to reduce damage taken a little and gives you a handgun from the start. It's an easier first time experience overall, I had the same issue with most horror-ish mods so by now I'm used to just stepping down difficulty a notch.

Sorry for double posting, but s**t, i love this mod and the Silent Hill vibe. I feel like the Z-Recoil takes a strong toll and the secret messages are kinda too fast for the average player to read, but to hell if that is something to nitpick on, the mod is great.
Can't ask for anything else, i feel it delivers completely.
Awesome mod.

I do have Project Malice but I'll try the other monster mod packs. Do you have a link to them
As for map packs, any that come to mind that have Doom 64's architecture? I tried playing Red Spiral with City of the Damned and nearly broke my laptop.

You could give Doom 64 for Doom 2 a try, it's not really Doom 64 in terms of mood but with an ambient music pack and a flashlight mod of your choosing it should get close enough.
There's also the Consolation Prize TCs. They'll let you use the PSX version of Doom, plus Doom 64 in its entirety + some extra levels.
And lastly, if you absolutely want the creepy factor, Abscission on the lower skills might worth a look. I'd recommend Stickney Installation if you don't mind a Japanese schoolgirl being on Mars.
You could also just use this Doom 64 texture pack if you want the look but not the feel.
