Most Feature Complete Port for Old and Bad Hardware
Is there a comprehensive list of ports that shows compatibility with with older hardware? Personally I'm using an ancient laptop with a bad integrated chipset, so I'm unable to use GZDoom, and LZDoom is based on an outdated enough GZ version that I'm more and more often running into issues with new mods. Anything with newer GZ-compat while still running on old shit hardware, or am I going to just need to get used to not being able to play some of the newer mods and tcs?

Really depends on your spec. Drfrag's builds target lower OpenGL specs such as ZDoom32, There is drfrag's ZZDoom that continues the ZDoom 2.8.1 codebase and there is also RZDoom which also provides the ZDoom 2.8.1 on more modern hardware.Hellscribbler wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 9:45 pm Is there a comprehensive list of ports that shows compatibility with with older hardware? Re: Most Feature Complete Port for Old and Bad Hardware
Basically I'm wondering if there's any source port that has more up to date GZDoom features(ZScript and other under the hood work that mods rely on) than LZ 3.88a that works on hardware that hasn't been able to run GZDoom since the initial dropping of the Software render. GZDoom throws the "R_OpenGL: OpenGL Driver not accelerated" message when I try to load it. Ancient Laptop is ancient, and the Chipset only supports GL 2.0 and older. In other words, software render with as many modern bells and whistles as possible is what I'm looking for. My own look around hasn't turned up anything better than LZDoom for what this POS rig will run, but I don't know enough about the various ports to know for sure that there isn't a better option.

You are out of luck. LZDoom 3.88a is the most recent you can get. All later work on GZDoom was targeted at OpenGL 3.3 as the minimum

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll have to get used to falling behind until I can get around to upgrading to a better rig then.
