How to assign weapon groups (toggles) on a controller's d-pad with GZDoom?

How to assign weapon groups (toggles) on a controller's d-pad with GZDoom?

I was able to find a configuration that allowed me to use the D-pad of my Xbone controller to quickly switch weapon groups in Quake's Ironwail source port (i.e. left d-pad press once = fists, press again = chainsaw) and I'm trying to do the same for GZDoom but can't figure it out. I basically want to toggle-assign all weapons (7, 8?) in Doom I/II to the D-pad. Can anyone help me? Closest I came to finding something was for a different source port.

Well, I can imagine launching gzdoom through steam (add gzdoom.exe as a non-steam app) and then use the steam's big picture ui to define the controls. That's what I do on steam deck with non steam games. It should work in similar way in windows, gzdoom just has to be launched through steam.
