Request for help testing 'modern' Blood features.

Post by Graf Zahl »

As some may have noticed, I did some major refactoring on the Blood code recently to consolidate its scattered actor data and make function APIs a bit more consistent.
While we were able to do sufficient testing on stock Blood ourselves, the same is not true for NoOne's 'modern' Blood features.

A good example mod highlighting them is Eviction:
https://www.moddb.com/mods/eviction-add ... ion-4-pack

To get a better idea what the current state of the code here is, I'd really appreciate if someone could check this mod with both the latest official release and a current devbuild (i.e. yesterday and up) and report their findings.

I used the 809 build from drd team on win 10:
The mod doesn't work out of the box, i had to move everything on the root of the zip;
I saved the game, then loaded. Caleb immediately died. Then i re-tried and the whole game crashed. EDIT : this happens on the normal game as well...
The Abaddon station sign on the second map flickers with newrenderer. Also framerate suffers heavily on the main room (but i don't have a powerful video card);
Got a crash on the third map after getting the spider key;
New enemies don't attack, they just wander around;
Some writings flicker.

Unfortunately I cannot really do any work with such generic reports. Can you give me some detailed information about those problems, preferably with savegames?
The render glitches are mainly from the lack of support for sloped sprites, so those are to be expected.
Not being able to load the mod as-is is also a known issue. It had to be made this way thanks to NBlood's inability to load RFS files.

Yeah, it was just a "preliminary" report...
Just load the attached savegame, caleb dies (on the normal game, not eviction). Did the same on eviction, game crashes. Report included.

Got a crash on map 3 again, here is the crash report. As for the enemies wandering instead of attacking, i would suggest to just play this map to have an idea, as new enemies are scattered around the map and they just run away when awoken.

I already fixed some issues based on reports on Github. Most of what you encountered should already be covered by that as well, especially the savegame problems and enemies losing their target.

Loading savegame with eviction still crashes the game. The enemies not attacking bug seems fixed.

If it is the old savegame, that one's broken. The error was that some data wasn't written out.

Just deleted every savegame, started a new game, saved then loaded. Got a crash. I used devbuild 814 with eviction :(

Strange. When I tried that last time it worked fine.

Still got a crash after taking spider key on third map, too...
Update : compiled from git on linux, seems fixed. Crash on loading game happens here, too.
