DEMONIC BRIBERY
an
OK! wad
New version:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/m9hhqx1r ... 2.wad/file
Gather money from health bonuses and medikits (or barrels if you're playing Strife) and toss 'em at your foes to hire their assistance. This version doesn't use custom monsters so should be compatible with all iwads and most monster replacement wads.

Does this work with DOOM(2) only? I haven't tried it yet, but I was just curious.

Nope, it works with doom, doom 2, plutonia and tnt (not sure if doom 1 has dsradio tho, that might need fixing)
It should work fine with most of the other add ons too, like jp hud and nashblood

I found that custom monsters (like the Colorful Hell bestiary) aren't really bribable.
Other than that, that's a very neat idea. However, it may mess up with the kill counter somewhat.

I am slightly disappointed that the "OK!" sound isn't the one from Metal Slug.

I wanted to try using zscript to make the projectile change the flags of anything it hits but that was going to take too much wizadry for my current experience level lol hence the use of monster replacements.
The kill counter should be fine, just moider all the enemies like you normally would (even if they say they're on your side, they're still demons and you still gotta send them home

)
What I'd need to do with zscript would be to change the monster's flags via projectile, then give them a timer to reset those flags after a certain time. It'd be cool if I could check for flags already being on to prevent the projectile from overriding +missilemore in monsters like the lost soul.
If anyone with zscript experience knows how to achieve that, I'd appreciate a little help
[edit] just realised i can probably do something similar with acs, i'll try that first

So it won't work with Heretic/Hexen/etc.?

Nope, not until I figure out the ACS/zscript stuff.
I had a go at ACSing it which ended poorly, so help would still be appreciated lol
here's the acs attempt in case anyone wants to laugh at my futile effort and point out where I went wrong
http://www.mediafire.com/file/9afskk8od ... S.wad/file
(the coins replace clips to make testing the code easier)
[edit] I don't know if it's going to work without performing a blood ritual to the zscript gods, acs is too buggy so I'll probably just leave it as is for now and come back to it when I have more zscript experience.

Just uploaded a new version which doesn't have the fancy timed effect but is compatible with pretty much everything

Grab it here and play it with anything you like:

(big thanks to Darsycho for helping with the code

Well, the link doesn't work. As a result, it says that the connection time has expired. Does anyone have a re-upload to Google/Mega or a working link to MediaFire ?

Gosh fuckit lol mediafire keeps doing this, I'll do what I can. Should be working again in a couple minutes!
*EDIT* Link fixed, and while I was at it I did a lil tweaking. Enemies hit with coins will no longer count toward the kill total, so you won't need to Old Yeller any survivors to reach 100% kills.

This is pretty funny. I like to suggest an idea, It would be cool to have a slider or preset how many can appear, they seem to appear everywhere. But otherwise this is hilarious.

Honestly, I do really like the concept of this mod from the amount of times I try to find a place to slap it on and throw money at any enemy. In particular with the free ranged version.
Of course, I have tried the original and seen what it is like too and I do think the need for more money to bribe a monster makes more sense on a balance level. And yet something about this mod between both versions really makes me want to see it get some tweaks to make it more appliable and customizable than before, especially in the way to have it possibly come in more places than usually force-replacing health packs and healthy bonus bottles.
Perhaps it is what I think of it, as I know I do usually look for such mods with the capability such as this or similar to obtaining allied baddies in a fashion.
