Freedom Planet
Sonic is dead. It's basically a fact at this point, what with the horrendous sales of the recent badly-reviewed games with no fan interest. Luckily, like any big old franchise, there is a spiritual sucessor in the indie world. It's a game that captures the momentum-running spirit of the originals, an enjoyable and creative endeavor. Bold and bright, there's something for everyone. No, I'm not talking about that POS Action Henk, i'm actually referring to Freedom Planet, a Dutch game originally meant as a Sonic fan-game but retooled into an original IP, one of the best of this generation. You can play as Lilac, Carol, or Milla, each of whom have distinct abilities. Lilac the Dragon sees a spaceship hurtling towards Avalice, and she and her friend Carol decide to follow. They discover an odd "Shell-duck" named Torque. After a bit of hanging out, they discover that Torque is really an alien! He wants to battle against the evil Lord Brevon, who has been manipulating the corrupt politicians and criminals of Avalice to his bidding.

Re: Freedom Planet
Freedom Planet is a great game, but your post just went all kinds of crazy right away and I stopped reading after the second sentence.

Re: Freedom Planet
Freedom Planet is a pretty bad game that turns into a pretty good game the moment you turn off the cutscenes and voice acting.

OMFG you are so right about that, the story reads like an awful Sonic fanfic.Kinsie wrote:Freedom Planet is a pretty bad game that turns into a pretty good game the moment you turn off the cutscenes and voice acting.

I do wish they'd let you turn the voices off and leave the cutscenes going. The story isn't terrible enough to ruin it as long as it stays in text, but sadly the VA just doesn't work.

Yeah, I don't want to be rude but with all honesty the voice acting sounds -very- amateur, and the recording quality itself varies wildly between characters too. Just best left off.Scripten wrote:I do wish they'd let you turn the voices off and leave the cutscenes going.
