If you were content with GZDoom 1.8.10, then you could use QeffectsGL.

Excuse my ignorance in such things but I'm unsure of the potential of this. Is Reshade just a curiousity, something to play around with or is there a chance of some or all of the effects being added to GZDoom itself?

Why do you need Graf's approval when the shaders already works fine? ReShade doesn't do nothing beyond of what you saw on this topic already, if that is your hope that this can help GZDoom evolve a bit on shaders and illumination.

I don't think this ever will, considering this is (apparently) an edited opengl32.dll file. (The number might be different, not sure...)
Also, keep in mind that this requires OpenGL 4.x.

I didn't really like qeffects. Reshade seems to be a whole lot less buggy and has a much more pleasant Bloom feature.

@MarisaKirisame
Alright. I guess I'll make do with mastereffects for the time being since I only use a minimum of features anyway.

I always wondered how mappers were able to achieve this kind of maps in the old Doom engine - These Quake-style maps.

Patience, skill, and Sector_set3dfloor+Plane_align. Or being a space-robot from the future or something in Ed_c's case.

I run my AMD 5850 with older drivers, 13.4, because newer ones caused various problems. Unfortunately this left me up a creek when GZDoom updated and my beloved QEffects no longer worked. Tried ReShade but it errored out because apparently my drivers didn't support OpenGL 4.3 (or whatever version ReShade calls for).

After a few months of this I found a solution yesterday when giving Win10 a go. Win10 made me install the latest drivers (15.7) and sure enough, its newer OpenGL let me run ReShade with GZDoom. Kinda surprisingly shitty performance, but it worked.

I reverted back to Win7 because Win10 doesn't yet work well for some apps I like. I thought hmm, can I get that new OpenGL working under my older drivers? The answer was yes.

A Minecraft forum showed how to extract specific files from unpacked AMD drivers:
- go into C:\ATI\Support\11-3_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF\B114839 (if C:\ATI is your default extraction folder)
- go to your extraction folder via the console (cd C:\ATI\Support\11-3_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF\B114839)
- execute this : expand atioglxx.dl_ atioglxx.dll
- copy the atioglxx.dll file into the C:\windows\system32\ folder
Except I copied the atioglxx.dll (24MB, 7/15/2015, not sure what OGL version) right into the GZDoom folder, and sure enough, it worked. Performance still sucked though -- normal 120s down to mid-40s in room before exit chamber of E1M1.

Luckily, AMD released an OGL 4.3 beta driver a few years ago, and after tracking down the download I extracted that atioglxx.dll (20.5MB, 7/16/2013). This one results in beautiful (though still lower than QEffects) performance on my old hardware, so I'm a happy camper again. Time to tweak those effects.

Thought I'd share in case anyone else is having similar trouble running ReShade.

So I downloaded everything that blackfish linked and instead of seeing all these sweet effects people are posting all it seems to do is change the colors on my game. Red is now blue and everything has a blue tint. On the main menu it says that reshade is working properly and the files loaded. Not a clue what I'm doing wrong here.

What's your video card, and are your drivers up to date?

ReShade seems to require a fairly up to date (last couple years) version of OpenGL, 4.3.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 and yes the driver is up to date. Running OpenGL 4.4.

update: My geforce experience program which automatically updates drivers was not working correctly, but I found a fix for it. Now it's fully updated and the blue tint is gone when I hit scroll lock. But now nothing happens. Do I need to use beautiful doom, or something in order to see any of the new effects?

Nope, it should be apparent just from using vanilla GZDoom with an IWAD. Make sure you're using a recent development build. Upon starting GZdoom you should see a message saying ReShade is working, and Scroll Lock should toggle the effects on/off.

Perhaps you're not noticing Blackfish's effects because they are a little subtle?

Download
Works for ReShade 1.0.0, didn't tested in older versions.

All I'm getting is this effect.
