Rapidshare can go die horribly, I'd say.

For my free account, I got 50 GB of storage space (which I'm probably never going to fill), not 10.
Yeah, but some people are always complaining about decompression. Some of them don't even know for example 7zip format (moreover, don't even use Winrar, 7zip or any other archiver) or how to decompress it.
I'm sorry but those are poor excuses for not compressing your WADs before uploading. Compressing WADs saves a lot of space and requires less time to upload/download, as Enjay already knows.

The Doom community has been dealing with zips like for ages now. And at this time and age, if you don't know what a zip or a compressed file is, then I feel sorry for you.

Yeah, Mediafire all the way. Storage space is more than enough for me, I never got a problem with that site.

And I fall under "People with low Internet speed" that is why I use 7-zip, since it very good and compress very well.

Thanks, but I didn't write about myself but those people who aren't able to install an archiver or download from a file hosting site. :)

If zips are being used, support is right there in the OS for Windows users. No need to install anything extra if they don't want to/can't.

Mind you, I bet these same people have managed to install about 50 different "helpful" toolbars in Internet Explorer.

Sorry to be a pest, but when is the DRD file service going to be available? I'm not in desperate need as there are alternatives at the moment [mediafire, dropbox, etc.] - just more of a question out of general curiosity.

Will it even come back at all?

That sounds as if it's not sure.

From here...

You should make "file space" a normal text instead of a link until you finish copying everything.

Any news? Can we have a simple and clear answer if it's coming back or not? Yes or no? I mean if it's not going to come back, I think everyone needs to be crystal clear on it so they don't get their hopes up...

No pressure, just wanted to know what's going on. If it's not coming back, then so be it. :)
