The Still New What Did You Last Do Thread
Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Thats the cover our asses in case you're using a cheap no name PSU recommendation. A 680 and i7-3960X@4.3GHZ is only using 362 watts from the wall here.

I wouldn't recommend getting the biggest and newest hardware, it's not worth the fortune you'll have to fork over.

And considering he buys a new part seemingly every week, it's not exactly cost effective how he's even doing it. At this rate he'll have enough spare parts to build another, if inferior, machine.Blox wrote:I wouldn't recommend getting the biggest and newest hardware, it's not worth the fortune you'll have to fork over.

PC games are getting coded shittier and shittier anyway, not fully utilizing expensive hardware (*cough* Consolitis *cough*) so you're just wasting money...

Yeah, it really says something if i'm *still* doing perfectly fine with games with my 2009 Beast. :\
DirectX 11 support being the only thing I wish I had.

Wasn't your 2009 Beast something absolutely ridiculously expensive? That said, there were only a couple of games I couldn't play on my last computer when I retired it in September last year and I got that 5 years ago.Bouncy wrote:Yeah, it really says something if i'm *still* doing perfectly fine with games with my 2009 Beast. :\

Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
I can PLAY most games, just not the best framerates. I did a Crysis benchmark, I only got about 25 - 30 FPS with all settings maxed. I can't remember what resolution I set it to, though.

Do you have a 9600 now?Zombieguy wrote:I can PLAY most games, just not the best framerates. I did a Crysis benchmark, I only got about 25 - 30 FPS with all settings maxed. I can't remember what resolution I set it to, though.
Because if you do, then no wonder.

Yeah, it was, but the fact that it hasn't needed *one goddamn change* for 4 years is still rather impressive.TheDarkArchon wrote:Wasn't your 2009 Beast something absolutely ridiculously expensive? This might contribute to it, though:Bouncy wrote:Yeah, it was, but the fact that it hasn't needed *one goddamn change* for 4 years is still rather impressive.
Honestly, it's really annoying to see the fancy of games limited by consoles from very late 2005.Nash wrote:PC games are getting coded shittier and shittier anyway, not fully utilizing expensive hardware (*cough* Consolitis *cough*) so you're just wasting money...
This brightens the day a bit, but not by that much. (That is, it's better, but not by that much.)

EDIT: I actually meant, I can play most games with excellent performance, but just not the best framerates.
It's a great card for the price. My Just Cause 2 benchmark was an average of 61 FPS. I'll do another Crysis benchmark later to confirm the performance.

Mmh... Zzz.
Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Watched the 2007 Final Cut of Blade Runner.
Now to watch the documentary about it that is one and a half times the length of the film itself.
