Re: Reinchard's wip textures
Ok, I'm make some stronger shadows in few places and increase saturation on rust.

Re: Reinchard's wip textures

Re: Reinchard's wip textures
Here's official version:

I have a question - what kind of material are this flat? Some kind of wood?

Re: Reinchard's wip textures
I've always thought of it as rough, unshaven wood; something along the likes of this (spoiler due to large size):
Spoiler:BTW GRNLITE1 is the same texture, coloured green and with lights added.
Re: Reinchard's wip textures
Although flat FLAT5_5 has been around since Doom and the STUCCO textures were added in Doom2, they look the same.

Re: Reinchard's wip textures
That flat always looked to me as a some sort of carpet.
Re: Reinchard's wip textures
To me too until I saw the STUCCO textures. In fact, to be fair, the STUCCO textures have always looked to me more like some kind of hessian wall covering than what I would normally associate stucco with.
Hessian:

The best picture I can find of stucco that actually looks like the Doom graphic:

I try to make something between stucco/concrete with some marble-like noise. Tell me what you think.

Re: Reinchard's wip textures
Today I had the inspiration to make stone2 texture and thats what I have:

Comparison with original:

And how it work in game:

(Yes, still without anisotropic filtering)

Re: Reinchard's wip textures
And quick test of floor5_3:

Re: Reinchard's wip textures
I like the STUCCO-like floor. That works well and looks much like the original. The STONE2 is good but the original has darkish-grey vertical "streaks". Your version doen't have these and that makes it look a little flatter/less interesting IMO.
Not sure about FLOOR5_3. The lines between the tiles are quite a bit darker than the original. This additional contrast makes it look better but might mean that it doesn't sit quite as well with complimentary wall textures.

Re: Reinchard's wip textures
Regarding door: IMO the rust hue and saturation does not match the vanilla version. It's very easy to see in Enjay's last post in the previous page with the animated comparison.
Re: Reinchard's wip textures
I wonder if you can make the colors a tad bit more dynamic to fit Doom's art style.
Re: Reinchard's wip textures
Holy crap stop playing the game (and seemingly making the textures biased towards) while having such a huge brightness increase.
Just take a look at how washed out the rocket launcher's lighting is.
Edit: Got it a bit more accurate (what is this i don't even):

Spoiler:This was very painful to scavenge due to the really low variety of brightness in the original.

Spoiler:Your original one looks nothing like this:
Spoiler:Which is quite a problem.
Re: Reinchard's wip textures
Now that you mention it, the gamma or brightness or whatever must be ramped right up for it to be that pale.Blox wrote:Just take a look at how washed out the rocket launcher's lighting is.
