Just some questions:

1. So I need to download GZdoom ? I have ZDoom installed, in-fact, I have Doomsday installed too
2. Your download link posted on first page is down. Any alt.link?
3. How do I run this WAD with GZDoom?

BOY WHAT A HELPFUL POST!

To run the WAD, just drag the .zip file over the (G)Zdoom .exe, or use a program like ZDL. I would assume you would need GZdoom to get it to run, but it MIGHT work in plain 'ol Zdoom.

As for the download link, I just tested it and it works fine. Give it another shot :\

That is a helpful post. Since he already has ZDoom installed, it is an assumed knowledge that he knows how to work ZDoom.

I find it to be assumed knowledge that GZdoom functions identically to Zdoom in the way you can load WADs, so if he knew how to work Zdoom he could figure it out with GZdoom. That's how it worked for me at least, and I started off without quite limited background information.

From context, I assume the guy is new to both Zdoom and GZdoom, so I gave an answer that would help him whatever his prior knowledge be and I managed to pull it off without being a condescending douchebag.

You can just drag and drop the wad files onto the ZDoom or GZDoom icon.

For ZDL, you have to set doom2.wad as the IWAD. Don't put it in the external files section. I'm also not sure where you got the GZDA-Terrain/Fixes things, but I'm assuming you dug them out of the .zip. Leave everything related to GZDA within the .zip file and just put THAT in to the external files and it'll run just fine.

sorry i haven't updated in awhile, guys. i got swamped with work for awhile, and then started playing some new games, and next thing i know i had forgotten about GZDA! anyways, due to the revival of this topic i put up the latest build, which was last worked on in the middle of january. i changed a whole bunch of stuff, but never got around to polishing a lot of it, so consider it an unfinished release. but let me know what you guys think! i'll try to start working on this again when i have the time. check page 1 for details.

I got a fatal error trying to start up the latest version of GZDA with GZDoom version 1.1.0 - 2.2.0 (r748):

Code: Select all

script error, "sbarinfo.txt" line 60:
Expected ";" but got "," instead.

i must really be out of the loop, i didn't even know ZDoom was updated to 2.2.0! i'm not sure how to fix this, as it worked in previous versions of GZDoom. but for now, just remove sbarinfo.txt from the archive and it will work, i just tested it. the sbarinfo.txt that is included was mostly experimental anyways.

It works! :D Thanks.

But the second time I reinstall everything after formatting my hard-drive, I got the 'script error, "sbarinfo.txt" line 60:
Expected ";" but got "," instead.' error. Following the advice by deleting 'sbarinfo.txt', I found that now I can't auto-reload every weapon, the shotgun doesn't fire automatically anymore  What have I done?

you haven't done anything, i changed all that. almost all conventional weapons have alt fire modes now, except for the .45 pistol.
