Hooray for Lego.

If you're good with them, I might suggest building something and then trying to recreate it in a modeler. For me it's much more difficult to come up with new material from scratch on the computer than it is with physical objects (paper and pencil, clay, legos, etc.), so if I can design something and use it as a reference, my final digital version comes out much better.

I tried digitally photographing the mech on the right and converting those to sprites. It came out okay, but to me it still looks like Legos in game. If I decide to use it in the future I'll probably try to use it as a reference in building a proper model.

That's an awesome idea, Risen. Why didn't I think of that before...?

Couple of things: a) What are you using for hands on those models? b) If you model in Ldraw (the Lego CAD program) I believe you can turn off the knobs for the final shots if you want. Obviously that means rebuilding the model on the computer when you could model it in Blender... but then you could also pass out instructions, too.

The right one doesn't have any hands. For the left, I'd probably be better off going home and taking a close-up photo for you. It would probably take several paragraphs to write out, as there are multiple attachment points for weapons.

And I misspoke previously. I actually digitally photographed both mechs shown in addition to a third one not shown. But I had he same issues on all three with them looking lego-like in the end.

That's cool. I haven't used it. Does it render well enough to output good sprites? If I'm going to go through the trouble of modeling them anyway, though, I think I'd want to be able to output them for use with GZDoom.

Remind me via e-mail or PM if you want me to get that photo. I don't want to clutter cutty's thread too much.

Indeed. Now get cracking on this so you can release it and get back to more important things, like finishing your portal maps or a new platform map. :D

Have you ever seen the prank screamer called "Jingle Bells Backwards"?

That has a very blood-chilling scream that you could use

Yeah I plan to go through all the internet pranks and steal the screams off of them, because it seems to be the easiest way to get them.

Trivia: Have you ever seen the prank called whats wrong with this picture? The scream out of that is used for ghoul2, only with a modified pitch.

Unfortunatly I saw "Whats wrong with this picture" before I saw Ghouls Forest.. I think the results were "messy"
