Here you go, EVERY heretic and hexen sprite converted to the doom pallete and lumped into one wad. I cant remember which order I merged them in, so its possible that the minotaur is broke because of the different frame numbers between heretic/hexen. You probably want to delete a great deal of them as well, unless you think you can use them all

What about the sounds? Are they in there, too?

I've got a wad of them too, I just thought they would be easy enough to move over. I've reached the limit of my micro webspace at the moment though, so I'll wait till you've both got the sprites before I upload it.
I started working on the Duke monsters as well, so I hope no one else has already started (the things I do for you eh

? )

If you
have them...

Doh, of course, your computers broken. Still waiting for Tormentor to come back...
Some of the Duke sprites are following a different rotation pattern - they have 12 different rotation angles, and as far as I know ZDoom only supports 8 or 16, so I have to either chop a few out or make lots of duplicates...
I'll chop the frames out for now, the extra rotations can easily be added later.

I have them. The question is, does Tormentor have them, too?

Dont know actually... No worries, the wad and the sndinfo are setup in any case
Theres another wierd quirk in Dukes sprites - it seems like they could leave out rotations here and there, and the engine would just use whatever rotation was in the last frame instead. Intresting memory optimization

@Chilvence, thx alot, I'm downloading all of the sprites at the moment, will be finished in 20 seconds

Is the DECORATE included?

No, it was intended for Graf's decorate lump - so it doesnt have any decorate entries for hexen monsters either.
I've finished naming and wadding most of the duke enemies, just need to make up a decorate lump for them all. The pallette didnt really convert well, it lost almost every shade of blue, so you'll have to fudge it so that the level is dark or foggy or something - it only looks strange for the pigs anyway.
Unless you know a good tool that can batch convert files from one pallete to another so I can do it manually?

For palette conversions I am using Image Alchemy (
http://www.handmade.com). But if the palettes are too different even a good conversion tool can't help much.
If you want to convert a batch of BMP files use:
1. ren *.bmp *.b
2. alchemy *.b -w -f filewithdestinationpalette -d0
(Yes, it's a command line tool but for tasks like this there's nothing better!

)

I'm not averse to command line tools, in fact I used three and my own custom batch file to get this far
I was hoping there was something that would have allowed manual remapping from one pallete to another, but maybe if I can change the colours in the duke pallete to be more like doom's color range, and then load that pallette into each image, XWE will be able to do the rest. The only trouble is that Dooms blues are much more vibrant than Dukes, so XWE thinks the closest match is grey.
edit: Blech, pretty ugly result either way. You decide:
Or I could darken his uniform somewhat and turn him into a SWAT pig...
edit2: also tried cartoony style (third pic). I think that looks best, but I could probably optimise the colours a bit more.
That program is mint by the way

what a shame it "only" lets me edit pictures < 640x480

Well, I think the best result is the grey one without any stuff of blue, so please use this one

(and for all the other things, do also grey translations

)

The last one at your preview looks best, I think we should use this one

I've converted almost all of the Duke enemy sprites now, I took extra care to use a pallete optimised specifically for each one. I think you'll find the result worth it when I write up the decorate lump and pass it to you. Compared to just an automatic pallete match, the result is quite impressive
