Doomworld's thing is just a front end for a mirror of the archives. Besides, optimally, one shouldn't put things on the archives for the sake of having them reviewed (through this front end or the /newstuff review), but to archive them. So what happens after putting them up there is mostly irrelevant.BlazingPhoenix wrote:Haha, oh wow. /idgames commenters are really stupid sometimes./idgames comment wrote: I don't know Blazing Phoenix, but I'm pretty sure you have sex with anime girl pillows

Legitimate spam (like what's happening there) can be reported anyway. Most of the rest just falls under the "haters gon' hate" theorem.

Hahahaha "anime girl pillows"
My 8800 is in and running stably it seems! 128F no load and 134F under full load. Only problem is THE PLUGS TO DUAL MONITORS ARE TOO BIG AND FAT SO I HAVE ONE SCREEN.
Zeno Clash and Minecraft never ran better though, and neither did Second Life... Wait, everyone's trying to kill each other in RP now except for Saria who just banishes everyone who is bloodthirsty.

I've been running an 8800 Ultra for almost three years now with no problems, though mine doesn't run quite as cool as yours. Mine usually idles in the 130s F and reaches up to the higher 150s F after playing Goldeneye Source (arguably the most resource-intensive game I play anymore), but cools down quicker ever since I put in the extra fans.

Heh. I've come to the conclusion that I REALLY need a CPU upgrade.
My 2GHz Core 2 Duo isn't strong enough to run any latest-gen games unless I overclock it to 120% its original speed.
I checked out the CPUs my mobo supports, I'll probably go for a Core 2 Quad, now I just have to check the pric-HOLY SHIT!!!

What's your videocard? Usually that's a ton more important than your CPU in gaming. I can't find it now, but Toms Hardware had a chart comparing everything from a Dual-Core Athlon to a Six-Core i7, and with the same videocard the performance was exactly the same until you started getting into extremely high-end games.UBX Master wrote:Heh. I have a side fan which doesn't do much, I took out a hard drive, and also removed the panel blocking the PSU fan which has dropped some of the drive heat signatures by a lot. Also, my room isn't quite as sweltering now.

Hrm, my flash drive has recently decided that it will only sometimes work.
Trouble is I'm not sure whether the problem is the flash drive itself or the laptop which I'm using it with. My other flash drive seems to do fine with this, but the bad flash drive works fine with the desktop. Bleh!

My proccessor is ridiculous compared to my POV GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB. UT3 was almost unplayable until I started overclocking the CPU. (Jumped from 15FPS to 50FPS all of a sudden)Caligari_87 wrote:What's your videocard? Usually that's a ton more important than your CPU in gaming. Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Huh. Interesting. I've got a Twilight Sparkle GeForce 9500 GT 512MB, a Core2 Duo E6400 2.13GHz and I play Far Cry 2 at at least 30FPS on Medium-High. Considering that was released after UT3, I wonder what the bottleneck is for you... Maybe UT3 is just more CPU-intensive or not GPU optimized.
