Hey there.
No update or anything just yet, but I am working on 0.0.7 as we speak, and it features a lot of polish, the return of a Soldier Z mechanic and an Ofek nerf.
Anyway, something I'm putting a lot of thought towards but haven't commited to is the idea of adding hard caps to ammo amounts. These limits would be fairly high, and backpacks would get expanded to there being different types of capacity items that expand ammo limits, like the Backpack would give 100 carry weight and also expand explosive and LMG belt capacities as an example.
So I figure I would ask you guys and poll it to gauge interest. This isn't a hard commitment to the idea, mind you, but me looking for some outside input.

So the changelog is, uh...really long. And its a ton of smaller stuff, but here are the highlights of the major changes
- Fancy decorations added, with actual hitboxes. Some things like lamps and trees can also be destroyed
- Recoil Pulse mechanic. The more you shoot, the stronger recoil becomes. Stop shooting and hold still to reduce the Pulse
- Stamina mechanics overhauled. Max Stamina is now calculated instead of being hard set, many bugs rendering it non-functional were fixed and it is much harsher overall. Wilhelm can no longer ignore it!
- Weapon Maintenance is faster overall, and will actually speed up even further if parts aren't damaged
- Damage falloff based on Range added
- Stimpacks no longer heal limb damage, but give a buff that boosts stamina recovery and physical strength
- Melee overhauled to not be so weird and arbitrary
- Pistol Canceling added. Weapon Maintenance and the start of Reloading can be canceled by drawing your pistol.
- Overhealing Mechanics expanded. Now in addition to providing limb regeneration, grants various buffs like increased carry weight, higher stamina, reduced recoil and higher melee damage, all scaling with how overhealed you are!
- Bodily Damage now has extra penalties that scale with how damaged the body part is
- Manual added, check it out in the repo or the zip
- Wilhelm now has 200 HP instead of 194 (IMPORTANT)
- M_DOOM logo resized to fit on screen [IMPORTANT]

hey uh every time I start a game I start off almost dead. Is that supposed to happen?

Are you playing Eviternity or Atmospheric Extinction? I ran into that in testing, but only on those WADs. I wasn't able to properly fix it, but for some reason if you use a health bonus, it will put you back at proper full health for some reason.
EDIT: I think I just fixed it. Redownload and try it now.

I use it pretty extensively with LEGION and a little bit with DRLA mons. Legion Of Bones is also recommended

Alright. Now that I am playing this with a proper mapset that isnt a goddamn slaughter, and with a monster set that doesnt feature fodder that drop too many smg and pistol magazines, meaning I have an actual ammo economy (even if Project Malice is my favorite monster mod)
I have to say this is a brutal and fun gameplay mod. Bonus points for making it so Indestructible has reduced effectiveness, meaning after second winds I need to actually patch myself up.
All I suggest is maybe if you wanna lean into the hardcore, having a setting that makes ammo rarer, that way I need to weigh reloads and such as well as use those fabricators more to get ammo reliably, and a pistol button that doesnt have me drop my gun nor need to enter my fists. And a way to determine how corrupted I am demonically.
Other than that good mod. Bonus points for having a female doom marine character which is always a plus in my books.

An ammo spawn chance option is actually a really good idea; expect to see that in the next version. I'm also hoping the coming ammo cap overhaul thingie will address a lot of the surplus of ammo issues, but we'll see. I also plan on overhauling the gear code, and part of that is I'm tossing around the idea of the medical gear having a diagnostics type thing that shows you detailed stats, including Corruption. Think the weapon info during weapon maintenance, but for your body.
There is a way to tell Corruption right now, though. The pink bar next to your health and stuff is actually three thin parts. Left most is blue and its your Overheal Bonus, the middle bar is bright pink and its your Demon Level (most apparent on Ofek) and the right most bar is a dark pink/magenta and that shows your Corruption. I know its not very well communicated on what those bars are and I'm working on it.

I'd suggest maybe next to the health icon on the HP bar instead having a skull to communicate your demon level. And the more corruption you have, the more redder the skull becomes, and the higher your demon level the more demonic the skull begins to become. As for the medical gear having a diagnostic, that works very well. Otherwise, good mod and if you're taking suggestions for player characters heres one idea I had
Meiling, the Chinese Gal
Name: Hong Meiling
Codenames: Meiji of Shanghai 17, Gatekeeper
Cyber Level: 0
Demon Level: 0? (is in truth a youkai)
Athleticism: 4
Base Speed: 0.9
Field Specialty: Martial Arts Expert (Melee does 50% more damage and has a chance to flinch, ending with a kick that will not only send opponents back but does a lot of damage)
Specialty: Shotgun like Ofek, though that can change if ya like
Unique: Dragon Youkai
- Has an additional 50 HP
- Can carry an additional 100 LBs of gear before a backpack
- Can do the dashing slide even past Light, up to Crush or Hobble
- Limbs and body are tougher to damage and the limbs and her hp slowly regenerate over time, with the speed of how she regenerates depending on her overall hp, though should a body part reach wounded or severe status you will need to heal up and she cant regen hp if shes bleeding.
- Gains VASTLY Reduced corruption from magic items and benefits greatly for them, even slowly losing it over time
Guns:
Pistol: QSZ-92 (uses pistol ammotype, does small arms damage, has a 50m range and capacity of 20)
SMG: Type 85 (uses smg ammotype, does small arms damage, has a 150m range and capacity of 30 but to compensate it is suppressed meaning enemies dont get alerted)
Shotgun: Hawk Industries Type 97 (uses shotgun shells, does small arms damage, has a 40m range and has a 5 magazine size, not counting the one round in the chamber. Altfire pumps after every shot and its unique is that its mag loaded, meaning quick reloads... if you have magazines. Of course, holding down alt fire will have you take several shotgun shells and make a magazine, allowing you to get a full up shotgun immediately. May be a bit clunky tho so up to you how ya wanna handle that)
Assault Rifle: Type 56(uses AR rounds, does long rifle damage, has a 500m range and capacity of 40 rounds. Unique is that it has a bayonet at the end and alt fire uses said bayonet)
Sniper Rifle: LR35(uses sniper rounds, does piercing damage, has a 1200m range and capacity of 5 rounds. Alt fire has you chamber a new bolt in the magazine, no scope here but to compensate it has a 50% chance to critical hit)
Launcher: QLB-06(uses the explosive rounds, does explosive damage, has a 600m range and capacity of 15 rounds. This gun is full auto too and drum mag fed. Unique has Meiling brace, reducing fire rate but increasing the range while reducing recoil)
Machine Gun: QBB-95(uses LMG ammo, does long arms damage, has a 1250m range and 75 capacity. Unique has you switch to a underslung grenade launcher which fires flashbang rounds.
Overall Meiling's pros would be not just her strong physical stats and quick agility, but her youkai nature gives her added abilities and allows the player to use magical items really effectively in the long run, though Ofek still has the best usage for magic items. However, her cons is that physical healing has arguably the least effect on her, her guns require even MORE maintenance than the rest of the Team, with her having the slowest maintain and use speed for that and healing up, but she also takes more damage from projectiles, especially holy(if you're using angelic aviary) and unholy.

Outside of making a customizable character eventually I have no intentions of adding any more.
...though I am on board for a CN character (lots of resources for the guns) and a blatant Touhou reference to go with the blatant Faith and JoJo references...I'll think on it.

And yee. I'm glad a Touhou reference would be nice, though ironically I was originally considering suggesting Reimu or Sakuya, though the former is pretty much taken up by John Ward and the latter would be extremely op for a tactical/hardcore mod due to her ability to slow down and stop time, so it would have to be heavily balanced. Other than that, glad you'll think on it, especially since Meiling is meant to give the player the best chance at surviving a slaughtermap if they're crazy enough to play this mod with a mapset like that
