Most of the RPGs I really liked were fun right from the very start. Final Fantasy VII comes to mind. Come on... you start out by blowing up the equivalent of a small nuclear power plant... and you're telling me it's not fun yet?

I know all is in the same map, i mean the "level 24" When you change the map, a little numer is show while "making" the level.

i mean adventure, no rpg. Yeah, i found VII more enjoyable than VI. But alas, i think Tales of Phantasia is better than any final fantasy!!
Of course, DooM is far better action game.

I've got to say I enjoyed Xenogears best of all RPGs I played. FF VII and Chrono Trigger next afterward. FF VI was good, too, but it really didn't immerse me. I guess I'm in it for the story and not for the tedious leveling-up process.

Sarge and I were messing with the idea. We already had a bunch of weapons and graphics and monsters and a town and stuff, but you know how laziness sets in.
We had intended several bosses, with a system where you level and gain HP / Armor / Strength / Speed. Also I had random weather effects planned (random rain, snow, the occasional tornado), night/day changes and all the fun stuff.
But... I'm lazy of course.

Also, for some reason, I like the name Xenogears, even though I've never heard of it before.
