the mech 4 sounds I ripped. Hope they're useful to anyone.
I note again that, unfortunately, they aren't properly labelled.
kinda the nature of ripping out 100-250-ish sound files and being a busy/lazy person like me.
still, they're there.

What about the sounds that I put? These weren't rips; they came and were converted directly from the data files.
Oh well, I think it's because PDF wanted the mech4 ones, and Weasel wanted the mech2 ones.
EDIT: Hey BOuncy, if you want to rip the MW2 computer, go into Options, and turn down each volume bar except for Voice. Then do the steps needed to get the specific sound.
I've got all the bleeps and the creeps and the sweeps ripped from the data files themselves.
NOTE: The HEATCCRITBEEP.wav in my mech rar, is actually the SHUT DOWN IMMINENT one, and the OVERBEEP is when you ove-rride the heat shutdown.

I've had a look at the sounds you've all provided, this is excellent stuff. Could still use the voices, though, but hearing these sounds again after so many years brings back all kinds of memories.
I just tried to apply the new sounds to the heat level scripts, and somehow I managed to break it - the heat level warning no longer appears, and while the override works, it doesn't play its sound at all.

This is strange, I'll look at later, right now I'm assembling parts of a certain helpful object...

Once I'm done, you'll need to tell me what animations you need for the mod so I can make them.
Also, I AGAIN put the wrong machinegun sound. The MACHINEGUN.WAV in BALLISTIC.rar is actually the machinegun hit sound, the actual sound for firing hasn't been decoded yet.
I'll figure this out later.

Oh, that's fine, I don't really need MW2's machine gun sound, I think the one I have in there already is quite good enough. Having authentic laser sounds is perfect, though.

Hey, question, what clan is the player on? This will help me for when I skin it.
Judging by the current sprites, I say he's on Clan Wolf?

Why not a custom faction? It isn't 100% MechWarrior already...

I love the sound of MechWarrior 2's Pulse Lasers. However, for more beam types I have to say Mech4 reigned supreme there. The Gauss rifle is sweet, too, but these are just my opinions.

I'll once again state that this isn't intended to be a straight Battletech TC, so we'll take some liberties and claim that our player is a freelancer that stole a Clan mech. (Say, I wonder if there's a viable fanfic trick we can pull to tie the story into Battletech?)

I think being a Merc would be fine. So in that case, I'll just PAINT IT BLACK or something.
[Mechwarriornerd]Wolf's Dragoons are a fake Mercenary group started by Clan Wolf.[/mechwarriornerd]

I'm surprised at the number of closet 'Mech nuts in the forums.

RE: Details of Op 3, Mission 1: "Gateway"
Ours is a war that has been waged for many years. It has become something of a routine to us; we know what to expect of our enemy, and they know what to expect of us. Although each side has their secrets, they are rarely pivotal to the coming battles. At least, they don't usually make enough of a difference to catch either side off guard. Not until now.
One of our spies happened to uncover documents from a previously undiscovered enemy outpost on a distant planet known only as "Phobos" - a new large-scale teleportation device is being worked on, and as the spy has reported, it is nearing completion. A device capable of instantly relocating entire platoons, regardless of distance, without need for dropships. This could vastly upset the balance of power for the entire conflict.
We are men of honor; as such, we will not ask you to steal this technology for our sake. It is our belief that such technology perverts the very art of war, and as such it must be destroyed at all costs. You will be sent to Phobos via covert dropship, alone. There you will find the headquarters of the Union Aerospace Corporation; this is merely a front for the experimental research. Your task is to destroy the entire headquarters, right down to the research labs. If anything stands in your way, well, nothing will be stopping you from fighting it on your own terms.
Sincerely,

Well to be honest what is there NOT to like about giant walking tanks?
Still a little surprising though, especially with the franchise headed straight towards the ground at top speed. D:
Then again I always preferred the pre clan stuff so I may be a little biased.

There's also absolutely nothing wrong with having a couple of stolen Clan ER PPCs as your centerpiece to your retro-fitted Marauder. ... As scary of a thought that is.
