I'm certain, that Amulets and armor is a game, built on the engine called "build engine" it is the same that doom uses, i've tried to open files with doombuilder, and yep i could open them!

I'd really love to see a nice game like amulets and armor was.
I say was, because nowdays on win XP it's unplayable, and has no sounds, and i also can't set resolution. I know about dosbox, but it makes my comp lag.
Personally, i like non-turn based RPGs better.

Err, no

. The engine that Doom uses is, oddly enough, called the Doom engine; Heretic, Hexen, Strife, and Amulets & Armor all use this engine, albeit modified to a varying degree. The Build engine is an entirely different engine, and is used by Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, Blood, and several other games.
Doom Builder is simply what someone who had nothing to do with the creation of Doom and is 100% unaffiliated with ID Software decided to call their level editor.

What? "Amulets & Armor"? Doom-engine game, heh? Any chance of ZDoom supporting it in the future?

No. It isn't Doom engine.

Amulets and Armor definetly uses WAD files for the maps, however the game files are not WADs.
But I think they used the doom engine as a base, because there are some game textures and whatnot that look very similar to dooms.
Also I've been making a mod for Zdoom using amulets and armors resources.
Check it out here:

Did you stop developing it, or you will continue? I'd like to see updates! =P
Amulets and armor doesn't use ".wad"s. It may be the same format (it is openable with XWE), the resources are ".res" And the maps are ".map"

NO SHIT SHERLOCK, it's a dos game, stop trying to judge dos games by the shitty NTVDM crap and stop whining and play it in dosbox already

Did anyone ever have any luck getting sprites out of the a&a pics.res file, because I kept asking csabo to try and make xwe open them but he wasnt interested.
I think they were stored in a file within pics.res called objs, but nothing opens that file once extracted.

Amulets and Armor sure looks good, but are there other suggestions for Doom's mods?

If you haven't already, try Strife - fun. And make sure you copy over both strife1.wad and voices.wad to your (G)Zdoom directory, and check your control settings soon as you start. And don't trust the 'talent broker' guy in the bar hint hint.

I should note that Strife is actually a full game, not a mod.
But its doomish and good so I guess it counts.
