Jesus. This really needs its own thread? Yeah, it came up a few times in other threads, but it wasn't exactly taking them over. It wasn't bad like 4chan had it. Also, Malarky this thread is exploding!

Thoughts on the situation: it's just a fad. After the initial wave of obsession, it will probably die down a bit and be less intrusive, just like any meme or internet phenomenon.

At least, I hope it is. 'Cause it's really taken over the internet.

Thoughts on the show: I haven't watched it yet. I haven't found a good place to see it yet; I'll probably just download the episodes wherever I can find them. Will I like it? Who knows. Just based on the premise, I'm not going to dismiss it, but I have no clue whether the show has any actual merit behind it. I'm guessing that it probably won't have the great appeal of other cartoons popular on the internet like SpongeBob SquarePants or Ed, Edd, and Eddy, but that might just be a genre thing.

But the show does have some damn cute ponies going for it, so that helps.

It's sad when people can't see a well written show for what it is, something that goes far beyond a stereotype.

And it's even more pathetic when people try and drag out the stereotype when they clearly don't understand the subject matter.

It's a show about magical fucking ponies. The very premise couldn't get much more stereotypically girly if it tried. I bet there's a princess pony too.


As you can imagine I'm still yet to actually check this out for myself. Every time I even breifly consider it one of my brothers asks me if I'm off to a gay bar after I'm done, or if I'd feel more comfortable in a dress whilst I watch it. Which is perfectly fair because I mention it as a joke because it is definitely a show for little girls.

So the general picture I'm getting here is that A) people dismiss the series out of hand because of snap judgments based on surface details and therefore never watch it, or B) people watch the first episode only, or even the first 10 minutes only, and use that to judge the whole series.
