I figured it made more sense to just keep that and refocus the budget on the other components than to buy another graphics card in 2015.

Reason 2: Honestly? SSDs just don't appeal to me much? Yeah, I know the benefit, but they have the same problem as flash drives, last I checked; do enough write cycles to them and they just go poof. That and with their relatively limited spaces I didn't really want to do a constant fuss on where I was installing things. Agree or disagree with me if you will, but ultimately I just didn't feel the need for one.
Reason 1 is understandable.

Reason 2... if you write several petabytes to them, which can take years, they can fail. If SSDs don't appeal to you much and you had the chance to use one, all you could do is install Windows on it then completely ignore it and resort to your hard drive for things that could ideally be stored in a solid state drive. It would last even longer in that case.

See, I didn't know the exact amount. I merely remembered that they went poof when you did enough to them, and I always erred on the side of caution in regards to computer hardware. Now that I know it'd take way too much to actually make it happen, I can keep it in mind in the future.

Alright, thanks for your consideration. I don't have one either, but I hope to migrate to one in the future.

Here's an SSD endurance test you can look at if you want to. http://techreport.com/review/27909/the- ... e-all-dead

If you're blowing money on something like an LGA2011 system then you might as well spend 180 bucks on a good 500 GB SSD or 250 bucks on one of the fastest (of the SATA SSDs) and sturdiest SSDs to enjoy a very fast system.

The massive amounts of space these drives have mean that you're not going to kill it any time soon unless all you're doing is literally writing and rewriting the entirety of its capacity every single day.

Hell, my 120 GB Samsung 840 is still chugging along, despite having a full year of power-on time and a total of 2.82 TB written to it.

Made my first custom UI component in Swift today. Coulda done it in .NET in ten minutes, but all the Swift tutorials are for custom graphics draw components, not simple UIView subclasses with other view objects on them.

Feels odd being back working in IT 2 days a week, but it's nice :D

OMFG. It's possible to hack Banjo Kazooie. (Wait, crap, the Youtube link that used to be here actually contained a link to a pre-patched ROM...still not legal by our rules, sorry. -ww)
If it's not complicated as hell, I might give it a try once.
What am I saying, it's a hack, how could it be easy.

Edit: OK, it's actually pretty easy. Although I can only place, move, scale... models, it's a start.

Wonder if this works on real hardware, or if it's like 90% of the Mario 64 and Zelda hacks out there that only work in emulators...I'll test that out soonish.

I opened my Epic Games Launcher today and found Unreal Engine 4.9 preview for download, WTF going this way before the year ends Epic Games is going do Unreal Engine 5 with just a dozen of games released in UE4.

Earlier today I learned that Harebrained Schemes had announced that their next project is going to be for BattleTech.
I'm just a little ecstatic...

Didn't feel this warrants a new topic yet because they want to start a Kickstarter sometime in the fall. They made a good game in Shadowrun Returns so their short history is sound, at least.

I really hope they manage to capture the lore a little more capably than MWO did. I like the art style and am glad they are using it.
