The largest reason why these videos are so popular is because they appeal to the lowest common denominator, which makes up a bulk of the internet users. These videos are not unlike reply-girl videos and Youtube video review videos (yes, they exist) in that they contribute absolutely nothing to the material they are [ab]using, which is mostly why I hate these people.
The Retsupurae people are currently doing a collab video of their fans reacting condescendingly to PewDiePie's videos. For me, this is like a beacon of light in the septic wasteland that is Youtube.

It's not really that. I just don't get why anyone would take all the worst/most obnoxious bits of his LPs, and string them together into one video - that alone would be unwatchable, but for someone who actually quite likes PewDiePie (such as myself), to have disapproving commentary over the top as well makes it completely pointless for me to even bother with it. I watched the first 10 seconds and then closed the tab, as it was exactly what I expected - PDP being unusually obnoxious and people going "oh wow look at how completely and objectively unfunny this guy is".

It also kind of suggests that that's all he does. I like his "Happy Wheels" and "McPixel" videos and find his twisted sense of humor funny (they fit the games, anyway, which are a bit depraved themselves). Those are enjoyable to watch, whereas in his LPs of scary games he just screams a lot (with the occasional jocular remark). People screaming through poor quality microphones is rarely funny, and if this guy screams a lot in a more obnoxious manner than normal, then I don't need a whole panel of "adults" (can they really call themselves that if they're taking part in a puerile nation-wide insult-a-thon?) telling me this isn't funny, or more accurately, that the guy himself is an unfunny shit. I can just not watch those videos that don't appeal to me. It's easy.

I also don't really get the jabs at his humor. It's humor. He doesn't really want to rape and molest. Jesus Christ. If you're offended by that, then the internet is not for you. TV probably isn't, either, come to think of it.

There is too much complaining out there for the sake of complaining. And yes, I realise I'm complaining about it. But it's dumb. The video you posted, insightguy, applies just as much to the Retsupurae dudes as it does to me.

Also, surely complaining about him and calling him out as such a terrible LPer only increases his popularity. What is the goal of this video, exactly? I'm genuinely stumped.
