Yep, still superior to Brutal in every way! Looting marine corpses for ammo never gets old. Which reminds me, is that possible in zDoom?

Although I do miss the Doomguy HUD face. Also, I hear this odd "chirrup chirrup" sound at regular intervals from E1M7 onwards, I have no idea what it is, but it's distracting. And is there supposed to be a green halo above the barrels...?

Why bother having the pistol in the first place then? Seems like a weird design choice rather than just having both weapons be valid in particular situations.

I removed the face to keep the HUD cleaner and less cluttered. Besides, that helmet mug is a bit overused by now.

"chirrup chirrup" sound? I'll boot up E1M7. It is probably one of the ambiance noises. Might need tweaking.

EDIT: It's either A) Lamps humming B) Barrels occasionally bubbling C) Liquids (green toxic sludge) or it is the beating heart sound when your health gets low. Try to pinpoint which it is and I'll see about fixing it.

The "halo" above the barrels is a glow from the liquid. Don't know what you'd call it, a flare?

There was a touch of humor in that reply. Like said, I liked the idea of both a rifle and sticking to a pistol. And since DF originally had both freely available I figured this was a nice compromise. I made a poll, hopefully, that will put an end to this recurring discussion once and for all.

No, I don't think it's that. It's sort of like "breeeeeeeee chirp chirp chirp chirp". I don't think it's even in the WAD files, actually..

In that case, not much I can do.

But the question remains, what is causing it and where is it coming from. You wouldn't be suffering from tinnitus by any chance, would you?

EDIT: You wouldn't be able to make some kind of recording? Video, sound...

I hear it. That... is the music. Could be something screwy going on with the music playback, or the track just sounds funny on your machine/setup. EDGE has always had problem with music playback. Try one of the music WADs I linked to and see if that eliminates the problem.

On another note, I have swapped the health and armor around and made pistol and rifle accessible simultaneously among other minor but beneficial tweaks. Update will be uploaded... sometime soon.

That's very strange -- what version of 3DGE are you using? And for the music "driver", do you have Timidity, SYSTEM, or OPL selected? If you are using 2.0.4 Final or under, there is no option for OPL -- that is only available in 2.1.0 Test1+.

What?! It can't be the music, surely! I'll go check it under the other drivers, see if it helps...

EDIT: Alright, it's the music. I let it play without doing anything and the chirps came back. It appears to be Timidity that's doing it.
