Well, that is 2000 more hitpoints than the Cybie.giest118 wrote:6000 health. It's easily taken out by 2-3 close-up BFG shots. Yeah, that makes A LOT of sense, when you think that a Cyberdemon is taken out by the same amount.
Massive hitpoints totals do not make interesting bosses - they make incredibly dull ones. Constantly chipping away at a boss' huge hit point total just gets monotonous. Make the boss more interesting - yes, absolutely - change its fight pattern, give it stages/phases, make it have some kind of twist or more varied attacks, some sort of regeneration ability (plus a reasonably obvious way to stop it regenerating and a HP bar so you know what's going on), some helpers etc etc.
Increase its hit points? Nope, that's just dull, dull, dull, dull, dull.

Renting games? That spoils the whole "I own this game" feeling!HotWax wrote:That's what I have GameFly for.
@Cutman: Is it just me or is hard to find someone else to actually play that game against in multiplayer? Hopefully Nintendo is adding online abilities to its next set of games/console...

So what?
I'm glad I only paid 3 to check out Doom 3 over one weekend instead of paying 50 for it in the store. After 2 days I really had enough of this game and no desire to go on. Result: I saved a lot of money.
I can't rent HL2 (for obvious reasons) and I am not doing a blind buy, so screw you, Valve!

I had too many experiences with bad games and I am not buying anything for that much money unseen.
Yeah, Steam really seems like a stupid idea, and as much as my opinion differs with Graf on these two games, the very nice thing about renting is just what he says -- if you don't like a game, you haven't lost much, and if you do you can always buy it. With GameFly it's even better. You don't have to rush through the game, you can keep it as long as you want before sending it back, and if you really can't live without that "I own this" feeling, you can use the Keep It(tm) feature to buy the game at a discounted rate, keep the disc you already have, and they'll send you the manual and case in new condition. Nifty! Did I mention you never have to leave the house except to walk to your mailbox and back?

Don't bring that back up, please. For once Graf and HotWax agree on something (more-or-less).... BTW I agree with them both. As much as I love Half-Life 2 and want to own it, I think what HotWax said about the whole "Empty Wallet Feeling" is both hillarious and dead true. Of course I personally would rather just save my money and not even rent, but it's still better than a blind purchase as Graf said, and in many ways beats having to download the demo of a game that might be crap anyway.... Wouldn't recommdn it for people with lightweight wallets though....
