that's why the dream levels could've benefitted from BJ not moving at his original speed. that alone would've made the levels a lot more PLAYABLE. having a map means nothing if you're moving at a snail's pace trying to find a key.
personally i thought Old Blood was alright. nothing too spectacular, but at least it's relatively cheap for its length.

I once dreamed I was playing a Doom level where in the ceiling there was a plus-shaped hole. When I got close to it, a Lost Soul hiding up there dropped down and attacked me. Uncharacteristically of me, I remembered that dream, and I put that feature into level 4 of Titan.

I used to have nightmares about my bedroom door opening and a Cacodemon slowly floating through the doorway and towards my bed. Back when PSX DOOM used to scare me a lot

I remember having one dream as a kid about going into some sort of underground facility where a big mancubus on a jetpack kept a bunch of humans enslaved, and it was a cool boss fight and stuff... Yeah, can't exactly remember all the details.

This one looks like more a gun from heretic maybe with the tome of power activeThe most notable difference was that in place of the BFG9000, was a large black weapon that fired huge black metal bombs that created massive explosions.
Re: Dreams/Nightmares about Doom engine games?
The bombs were huge and cylindrical and rounded at ends. Basically it was a impact-grenade launcher and the explosion had huge splash damage.

Doom dreams are where I get much of my map geometry from, but I always seem to be aware that I'm playing a game.

I likely dream about games that I get addicted to, and since I was playing DoomRL a lot these days I had dreamed that there was a miniature multiple missile launcher unique that's able to fire a salvo of missiles instead of just launching a few.

there is a unique in the game that's pretty much exactly that. it's called the MIRV Launcher.4thcharacter wrote:I likely dream about games that I get addicted to, and since I was playing DoomRL a lot these days I had dreamed that there was a miniature multiple missile launcher unique that's able to fire a salvo of missiles instead of just launching a few.

So I just dreamed about myself playing DoomRL after all.

I keep dreaming of an F-Zero style racing game made with an extended Doom engine, which my brain keeps wanting to call "Beyond Borders" despite Google searches turning up a movie with that exact title. Okay, it's actually more of a daydream, but you know how it is
I also keep daydreaming up a sequel, made specifically for Voodoo graphics cards, with the subtitle "Project Reality." Both games have an emphasis on story, as weird as that sounds for a racing game.
As for actual dreams, the closest I've gotten is a dream about a foreign exchange student who made a first-person... explorer? with basic 3D graphics. You played as a little spaceship with arms and had to navigate a world of silhouettes, and each of them had advanced AI where they would react to different things you did while trying to find... something, I forget what. He called it "Valve Hammer." He apparently had the source code stolen by a bully, so I naturally walked over to the bully and picked a fight with him. I lost badly. As I was getting pummeled to pieces, a kid that I had a grudge against was mocking me the whole time. "What a loser! What a moron!", etc. I remember murmuring "No, you're the loser" in real life just as I was waking up.

There is actually a GBA racing game based on the doom engine. It's pretty bad or so I've heard.

Does it exist? What is the name? If it is GT Advance, I'd nod my face left and right.kodi wrote:There is actually a GBA racing game based on the doom engine. It's pretty bad or so I've heard.
