Re: Post you computer specs.
Only because I'm finally happy with a machine I own. . . I plan to upgrade it in a couple months because most of the hardware is similarly sized and has been shown to work from one model to the next, but this what I currently have:
Dell Precision M6400 Laptop
Core 2 Extreme Q9300 Quad core 2.53 ghz
16 Gigs of RAM (max)
Quadro FX 3700m (1 GB RAM on board)
1900x1200
512 GB SSD (x2, RAID1)
Bluray burner
Wireless N (though I forget the exact card atm)
Fingerprint reader
NFC communicator
Behringer 202 external USB Audio Interface
Audio Technica M50x headphones
Running Linux Mint 17.3 KDE with Nvidia proprietary drivers.
9 cell battery that lasts MAYBE 50 minutes when I'm working. . . Less if I'm actually doing multiple things. This is the result of the hardware and Linux's fairly poor battery life stuff (even with Powertop, I can't get more than an hour) But this is kind of a known issue with this laptop.
The upgrade path I'm on is going to have me replacing the bottom chassis and mainboard/cpu to an M6500 one that has USB 3.0, an i7 quad core and a few other improvements (like being able to address 32 gigs of ram). This will shore up some of the power drain (the 6400 came out right at the cusp of the 1st gen i3-5-7 series cpus) and I can still use all the hardware in my current laptop as configured. All in all, I paid 100 dollars for my current machine (with the 150w charger) and I expect to spend another 80-100 for the other components. Not a bad deal, if I do say so myself.

Re: Post you computer specs.
Desktop (custom built piece of old and new junk):
Q8400 @ 3.17GHz
560Ti 1GB (one death, one reballing, still strong)
8GB DDR3
1TB SATA3 WD Blue (contains Arch Linux, fully using GLORIOUS ZFS MASTER RACE)
160GB SATA2 Maxtor (contains Windows 7 carelessly squeezed in)
1920x1080 23" cheap LCD
Laptop (Compaq 6720s saved from the trash):
Celeron 560 @ 2GHz
X3100 (worst integrated gpu ever, 90% of everything is unusable. at least I can run Doom smoothly... in software... at 320x200)
3GB DDR2
120GB SATA2.5 (yes, that's at least what SMART says) Fujitsu (also has Arch on ZFS. Yes, ZFS on a goddamn laptop, because I can)
1280x800 15" screen with one dead pixel and a horrible horrible bit depth with awful dithering.
Raspberry Pi (Model B rev 2.0):
OC'd to 1GHz without any cooling because I'm insane
8GB Class 10 SD card (Arch on ext4, tried btrfs once but it's an unstable pile of crap)
Hooked to a 1024x768 15" ancient LCD with some stuck pixels through a cheap HDMI to VGA converter.
I don't use it much now that I have a laptop.
I would definitely replace a lot of things if I had the money.

In other words, WEAK, but with a lot of tweaking, and my high tolerance for low frame rates, I still have a lot of fun. For example, if an FPS gets at least 25 FPS, then my eyes and mouse can still follow the action. Most older games and emulated stuff play fine, except for some of those that don't recognize both cores. It's very light weight, and stays amazingly cool no matter how hard I push it.
Won't be playing Fallout 4 anytime soon, though.
PS: I put the Macross UN Spacy Symbol over the HP logo. Ha ha!

Re: Post you computer specs.
I'm doing a lot of stuff on my laptop. This will probably replace my desktop some time in the future, especially if eGPU pans out.
Dell XPS 15 9550
CPU: Intel Core i5-6300HQ (Skylake, 4C/4T, 45W)
Memory: 16GB DDR4-2133 (2x8 Kingston HyperX)
Graphics: Intel HD 530 (GT2) and nVidia GeForce GTX 960M 2GB (Optimus)
Storage: 512GB Crucial MX200 m.2, 1TB Samsung SpinPoint 5400RPM
Sound: Realtek ALC3266, Sound Blaster X-Fi MB3
Display: 15.6" 1920x1080 IPS
OS: Windows 10 Pro
It's powerful enough to do everything I need it to do, including video editing and virtual machines. The 960M is adequate for gaming, but just barely, which is why I'm looking into eGPU. It's not a gaming laptop- the thin and light design is nice to carry around but it screams and gets really hot under load.
