Favorite Doom Weapon

I'm afraid, even in the face of all of the other weapons available to any port of Doom, Doom64, Heretic, and Hexen included, I like the shotgun the best. I'm always itching for my shotgun when I play a Doom based game... and I'm always depressed when I can't use it.

Plasma Rifle wins hands down. While the shotgun is definately cool and is really "THE" Doom weapon, the PR is just so much more useful. It can mow through a crowd of lesser enemies in seconds, and yet is powerful enough to take on the Cybie and Spiderdemons.

On a slightly off-topic note, the Railgun really has no business in a Doom weapons poll. That'd be like asking people what their favorite enemy from Super Mario Bros is, and listing an Imp.

I voted for SSG, but i really like 2 guns. I love being able to kill anthing with the SSG, its like having a rocket luancher but a lor more fun =) plus i love the feeling of the gun itself. I also love the BFG. I cant help mowing throught croawds of enemies wacthing them "explode"
But i dont like how the BFG lags in ZDeamon.
