I can see where the complaints are coming from, but personally I don't agree. I mean, postal 2 is in poor taste too, but it's still funny a fuck and quite a good game. If you find it offensive, don't play it, but tough, you know? As a real technicality, I'm sure demons or the undead find Doom very tasteless, and the idea of shooting anything is really shocking to a pacifist. Anyway, it's fine to shoot nameless soldiers, just because they're in a game, isn't it?
So why not have nameless homeless instead? Or even nameless women and children? It's not like you'll then go outside (yeah, into the real world) and go lay waste to a highstreet at noon or anything.
Kinsie has my... well, not blessing, but I'm certainly not going to stop him.

Which is why almost the entire USA can also be pretty dumb. A very large number of kids and adults play violent video games, watch violent movies, etc. and how many actually get obsessed to the point they go around killing like in the games?
Almost never. The only time I can say I actually heard of someone going and trying to act out a game was a few years ago when a couple of idiot teenagers grabbed a rifle and tried to shoot up a freeway, saying they were trying to be like GTA: Vice City.

My sense of humour is often very distasteful, offensive and politically incorrect, but I don't go making distasteful jokes to acquaintances and other people who aren't my close friends. And the thing about Strife, is that it was most certainly not centred around "beat[ing] the crap out of the beggars". I don't find it funny to go and kill McGuffin in Strife either.Cutmanmike wrote:Wow since when did the forums lose their sense of humour. You could beat the crap out of the beggars in strife, what's the big deal?
When my half-brother was in his late teens he was an alcoholic and so was his step-father. They used to often get into physical fights when they were both drunk. In the end he got kicked out of home by his mother when he was 18 and lived on the streets. He supported himself by challenging people to pool in pubs for money. After many screw ups and setbacks, he found god and actually got his life to together. Now he's a chaplain in the Salvation Army and helping others get off the streets. I don't agree with the element of conversion in his work, but I can't really criticise since it's what got him off the streets and he's helping people that are in a similar situation as he was.Nuke em wrote:I do not agree with or support this idea for a wad. As k0da said, "Try living on streets and talk to some homeless people - you might be surprised at how intelligent and switched on some of them are." Homeless people are usually normal people who are just down on their luck. My father was a homeless man at one point, but now he owns a hundred thousand dollar house (!owns!). So the idea that homeless people would mass riot is completely asinine.
Just because I don't find such a simplistic and inane attempt at humour funny, doesn't mean I have no sense of humour. To me, the concept of a homeless uprising was handled much better in the "Vice Mayor" episode of Tom Goes to the Mayor. It was funny too.zap610 wrote:Do not let the humorless people get you down. Finish this wad the way it was meant to be! Also don't bother arguing with them, their opinions will never change.
I'm not actually calling for Kinsie to censor his own WAD. I'm not too fond of censorship, so I certainly think its my right to criticise his work.NiGHTMARE wrote:I consider comments regarding games and mods being offensive to be offensive in themselves, so by your own logic you people must stop writing such posts!
