It's indeed quite interesting ... a complete megawad filled with ZDoom wads taking features and possibilites to its full advantage... a showcase for ZDoom... that makes sense :)

Hmm, a ZCCP? :P
Sounds interesting, which one would this focus on though, ZDoom or GZDoom?

So would the maps follow each other in story, or would the maps be unrelated?

From the description, I'd say unrelated.

ZDoom, and unrelated sound about right. Afterall, this is the Zdoom Community Map Pack :P

And unrelated because... have you ever seen links between maps in other community based projects? (NDCP, CC...)

It also makes it easier. And one map from everybody who wants to participate is best left unorganised past the basic idea of one map from everybody, I'd think.

It would indeed bu unrelated, thus giving everyone a chance to express themselves individually.

I think the idea of organizing resources from the start would definitely be the best idea. We can get feedback on who wants what and how much we can cut down/back to reduce filesize without ignoring what the mappers want to use in their actual maps.

IF we technically wanted, we could use the whole monster resource back, but simply include in the text file that you need it alongside the wad rather than putting it straight in.

I like Phobus's idea (have hell maps together, tech maps together, ect.)

It sounds like this will be literally a grab-bag of all kinds of styles and themes. The only link between the maps is that they're for ZDoom. It might be nice to have an overall aesthetic outside of the maps, though: custom TITLEMAP and credits, and an INTERMAP showing the title of the level, author, maybe a screenshot or graphic, etc. I'd volunteer to do both if the project gets going. Outside of that and any resource limits imposed, I'd say anything goes in the maps themselves.

Quite personally, I'm more open to the maps being in the order that they come. It would seem more fun to me if the user was (even if only very little) surprised at what the next map was (i.e. instead of going from a techbase map to a hell-based map, he goes to a mountainous platform map instead). It would allow for some....spontaneity if you will :)

If anything, I'm more than happy to see what the majority thinks.

I agree with Phobus. Finding a good order out of naturally occuring trends in the themes would come off better than randomly ordered maps.

I would suggest placing them in order of difficulty.

So... when do we start? I'm happy with the standard resources, but if you want some suggestions for resources, I'd say look no further than the stuff used in ZDCMP2 (for textures)
