is little darker because all dhtp hd textures are little darker than original.
Looks too bright in game with default colors

I like the soul sphere. I hadn't imagined the nose to be so skeletal in appearance, I just thought it was a shadow under a normal nose, but it works and could well be right.
The skulls and candles also looks good - but there is something a bit cartoony about them. It's not so much the skulls themselves, but the candles look a bit... I dunno, more like grey tree stumps than waxy candles. Maybe. The fleshy stuff between them also looks a bit, undoomy, maybe. Perhaps something more akin to the SKSNAKE2 texture in colour and appearance might work better? Your choice, of course. Like I said, it already looks good.

I try different noses but I remembered on Eddie from Iron Maiden and this nose works good
All that skulls sprites are one big compromise. On original sprite are skulls much bigger but when I did them in HD looks big and funny.
After resizing are big holes between skulls but skulls size is ok. I tried add rocks and other backrounds but all looks strange. hm..
But candles is possible change,

That looks better already.
On the subject of the candles, they look kind of "stuck on" on top of the skulls. If you look at the original sprite, there is a hint that there might be meant to be some wax running down the skulls. So maybe that might be a way to help make the candles and skulls look like they are part of the same picture and not just pasted there.

The candles on the tier above don't obviously have dripping wax but even in their lo-res pixellyness, there is a bit of shading on the candle/skull interface that make them look like they are actually on the skulls and not just pasted on. Maybe there is more going on there that is just obliterated by the lo-res nature of the sprite?
I also wonder if the candles are meant to be blacker than the ones in your image? I know that on the original they are more grey than the solitary black candle, but the top of that is quite grey and these ones are much shorter. So maybe your ones could be a bit darker to hint at them also being black candles because your ones have the luxury of not just being 3 pixels tall?
