You do realize this is still in the alpha stage, yes? I'm sure there will be some monster sprite changes in the foreseeable future...

Do I understand correctly? No more HD sprites? Maybe authors make or take sprites in 1366x768 resolution or in 1600x900? Or they will still lag?

I hope they include those sprites anyway, and have the same spritework for the other weapons...

for the moment, the weapons are more accessible than the monsters for take rips...1/3 of the mod is done, the next step are the monsters and i think the third part are the textures of the levels....Wolfbrf wrote:Cool mod, but the monsters sprite never suit the weapons. Hi, Zion v08 alpha is not working with newest GZDoom dev builds. And what's new you can tell, or all still rest on holidays? =)

I forgot who it was that told me this, but I know it concerned ZION, and it was one of the developers... whoever it was, he told me that DOOM (2016) probably uses hitscan attacks with aesthetic tracers.
DOOM (2016) does not use hitscans. At all. I was able to do the demo on my potato computer, and it ran so slow that everything was in super slow motion. Even projectile movement! I could actually see the tracer projectiles being fired from the pistol and shotgun, and that the monsters I was firing at were unaffected by the shots I fired until the projectiles themselves made contact with the monster. This proves that the tracers actually are functional!
Therefore, I will reiterate one of my previous suggestions. You guys want to make this more like DOOM (2016)? You gotta use real tracer projectiles!

This mod already uses tracer models.

Yes, it does, but they're aesthetic, just like in Brutal Doom. If you look through the weapon code, you can see that the tracers the weapons fire deal zero damage. The damage is done via the [wiki]A_FireBullets[/wiki] action, which does the classic hitscan attacks.
What I'm saying is that the weapons should fire tracers that deal actual damage, and not disguise hitscan attacks as tracer attacks.

As part of the team I'm pretty sure that zion isn't dead but rather have a slow developement. Mostly because filesize of the mod, we can't upload new stuff every week and also, some of us are already busy on other projects (mod's multitasking, heh =P, i'm already working on 4 mod's at the same time, i think doomero and cam are working on some other stuff as well).
Last thing i've heard a week ago is that Camaleon is working on Summoner and Doomero on praetor suit and rune menu, so I think it's still on development.
Now, about me, i'm ripping some weapons myself to update a Doom trailer rip i've made a year ago and kept on hiatus to join zion team (yay another doom 4 mod :v) among other things such as: CSGO rip, Blorc and Invasion infernal 2.
It's possible that those new rips might be merged into zion (although on my mod i'm using snapmap rather than campaign, so i'm not sure what will happen with modded weapons, unless they sent me new videos to rip, since i can't rip it properly from campaign because potatoes)

is not dead, but the menu of the weapons is pain in the ...... and the runes freaking tedious as hell

I see you guys still use the old grenade throwing sprites for zion v08. I have a better one, i can give it to you if you want.
