Do you ever feel like most companies want your money now?

If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

Do you ever feel like most companies want your money now?

Post by enderkevin13 »

Lot's of games I used to like are becoming pay to win pretty much, like Warthunder, Battlefield Play4Free (that shutdown sadly), and especially games by EA.
What are your thoughts on this? They were doing well before, why do they feel the need to drain more money out of us?

I know that, but they weren't as money hungry then. Look at games like BO3 and stuff.

He means games that are becoming less and less enjoyable, a lot more repetitive, and literally juicing the money out of the fandom. EA is one such example. Ubisoft isn't far behind either. They replaced quality with quantity.

EDIT: Grammar correction.

No, you were just too young to notice it.

I assure you they've always been just as greedy. Even, like 200 years ago.

We're talking about games that are both shitty and force you to pay to win.

Those are like 50 cents though, and if you're good enough, you can beat them. Games like BO3 are impossible to do good in unless if you spend a lot of money.

i'm pretty sure that Nintendo Power strategy guides is a prime example of giving them your money to beat their games (e.g. Castlevania 2 and all its obtrusiveness.)

Most games back then look like they were designed by a groggy old man when it comes to dialogue so I think Castlevania 2's problem is just mistranslation or something. I don't know about collecting but do those Nintendo power magazines increase in value?

However, between F2P and arcades he does have a point. If you are skilled enough you can beat some arcade games with only just one coin. There are some F2P games that are just borderline or pure bullshit.

Case in point: Volfied from Taito. I used to play this game on a PC because it's one of the games that Taito Legends has, and it's pretty hard unless you learn how to finish stages with one move.

I'm not huge into mobile f2p games these days (an incredibly ironic statement given my avatar. not that I've touched p&d in a while, it started turning me off for many reasons) and I do feel there's a lot of questionable shit going on in the gaming industry, but eh. Companies have been trying to milk you of your hard earned cash for years, since as mentioned, said cash is their lifeblood

It's really no different now than it ever was. You can find so many games out there for a pittance. I mean, the Humble Bundle alone is something you'd never have seen twenty years ago. (Unless you count bargain bin packs, but those very seldom actually contained worthwhile games.)
