Almonds made such a fantastic looking fanart for the game, I just want to show it. :D
Spoiler: Awesome pic
@Trusty McLegit
I love your name XD
Sadly, I think it`s not really possible to port it to ECWolf, aside from the level geometry. Everything else is handled pretty well by the doom engine.
But it would be interesting to try, as it would surely play a lot differently.

And damn, there still is a door bug? Well, it`s not a game breaking glitch at least.

@Captain J
Awesome idea, but I think one game over screen is enough for now. :D

@Awez
Thanks a lot man :D
However, Captain J already works on a new explosion sprite. :3:

@Tormentor
No prob, hope you like it!

- It is not weird, It is a Masterpiece!
(GAMEPLAY)
- The Mechanics in a Wolf3d Inspired + Cartoony = Best Idea for a Mod ever!

If there's such a thing as a cute 'em up in FPS games, this is it! Pretty fun blend of Wolf 3D, DooM, and a little Sonic run the hell outta there!

Just finished playing the 1.2 (not completely but parts here and there) and now to get back to the point: When can we expect the sequel? :) I imagine something that's still classic but enhanced, maybe height variations (but as simple as possible, to make it feel like a real technical sequel)

Speaking of which, i hope it has vibe of the Rise of the triad. You know, triad was actually planned as the sequel of the wolfenstein 3D. also it uses enhanced Wolf3d engine as well, if i'm correct.

EDIT:

@Tormentor, Captain J

Haha, at the moment I am glad that I even managed to finish this wad, but there are already thoughts about the sequel that fill my brain from time to time. xD
I have no idea when I am going to start it, but I already have to ambition to make it another one-man project like this.
Some ideas so far would be adding textured floors/ceilings and lotsa height variations which includes crouching/jumping, while still staying all blocky and tile-based. Also, I would want to move away from the episodic format and do a more story-driven, lass arcade-y approach. Which means, cutscenes that progress the story a bit more.
The length should not be much longer than this game here. Anything beyond that would be too ambitious. :3:
Will probably also reuse most of the graphics I did for this game.

I am currently playing this and so far it is really good!

My only complaint is that most ZDoom options are not available in-game and must be configurated in the cfg file.

Also, it would be neat to have a custom desktop icon!

I agree, it was perfect as it was :) though don't make it too story-driven, the arcade style was really brilliant

I think fast paced arcade style gameplay and story can be blended together successfully if done right. Also, the intro for this game is fantastically done; if you're planning on making the cutscenes up to that quality then count me the fuck in! :D

Potential sequels should include the girlfriend as a playable character. (Co-op potential wow!) Also I personally can't wait for Shadow of the Wool Ball 3D (as opposed to 2.5D) - now with 40% more platforming gimmicks (and air control, of course).

Oh yeah, and thank you for making secrets not tedious to find. Having to spam Use on every single wall in Wolfenstein 3D was definitely not my definition of fun.

Wowo, it's beautiful. Looks like a Commander Keen game's box art, or something.

Yeah I think the arcade style of the core gameplay will pretty much stay, but the surrounding presentation will be a tiny bit less videogame-like and more cinematic. At least that`s what swirls trough my mind right now, I have no idea if I could pull this off the way I imagine it. :3

By the way, just saw this playtrough of E1 on Youtube by some hungarian guy :D
I feel honored, but...
the camera during the cutscenes is a lot higher than it should be. Did anyone of you guys experience this too? I wonder what causes that... :/

(also he forgot to properly launch the cfg file, but that`s no biggie)

Yo, v1.3 is released, with only a few, but important changes:
  • NEW explosion animations made by Captain J! :D
  • Blood on walls is now gone without loading the cfg file! (thx to Captain J again!)
  • Door bug in E1M2 removed... once again
Image
Captain J did a great job there, I think. :3:
