Unable to use Doom cheat codes like IDKFA, IDDQD etc.

I am able to use Zdoom codes like Kill, Resurrect, noclip, give all etc. but for some reason I am not able to use cheats like IDKFA, IDDQD, IDCLIP etc. and I have tried sv_cheats 1 and allcheats but it has not worked at all. Is there something I need to change in the source port options besides turning all cheats on for all games because I have that active already.

This sounds like an obvious question, but are you trying to type them into the console, or is the console closed? Classic cheats need the console to be closed.

I always wondered why that is. Typing "IDFA" in the console and it telling me unknown command is a total wut moment. I know it's not a console command per se, but it's a command that the game should recognize. I know you could just do "give weapons/ammo" to do the same thing, but... you know... curiosity.

Because original Doom engine didn't even have a console, so the cheats were typed during regular gameplay without anything being opened. (Though to be fair, they'd also work if the game was paused first.)

There you go, from now on you'll be able to type idfa in the console and have it work like the classic cheat.

Or if you're playing Heretic: alias iddqd "kill". But yeah, Gez's method would fix OP's issue IF he is using the console to try and cheat.

That sounds really cool, how did you do that?

Just to clarify, I do not wish to cheat because to me it is not as much fun as completing it through skill, but from some maps I have played they have not given enough ammo or they have drops which do not kill you but you cannot escape. For example one of the Wolf3D conversion maps had a couple of holes which looked like gun nests and when I fell in I could not escape from it so I would like to use them to escape situations at first then try to edit them later in DooMBuilder 2 or GZDoom Builder ^_^

lol XD Thank you Kinsie. I love Reelism, such a great mod. I have a question for you, How can I add monsters and weapons along with what do I need to edit to pre-existing mods in order for them to work?

Also, if you still can't do that, even with the console closed, the wad in question may block the cheats via mapinfo. Like my mod does. I hate cheaters.
