DOOM SNES Jukebox - Ultra pack!

Post by Cryomundus »

FInally got around to finishing this thing, hope you guys enjoy it!

Oh, and this can be run with pretty much any mod/wad/pk3 you want, as it never touches the player class, monsters, decorations, or items.

Btw, there's a neat thing about this version. You can choose any song you want by opening the console and typing SONG 001 - 974, and it will automatically go to that song. No "CHANGEMUS SONG893" needed.

http://www.mediafire.com/?xde1vgsslhcdzy8

Credit to TerminusEST13, as I just put all the music in here and wrote up the entire Language.txt to make this thing work.

The original credit file is left intact, with the addition of the site where I got the songs from, which is: http://www.zophar.net/music/spc.html

There's 974 songs total in this pack, and it measures out to 40.92 mb. They've been pretty much cherry-picked instead of dumping the entire soundtrack into a .pk3, so they're all pretty kickass songs really. Fair warning though, some songs are softer than others, and there really isn't much I can do about that, unfortunately. You may need to fiddle with your sound settings ingame to properly hear some of the songs. Sorry about that.

Spoiler contains a pic of what it looks like when choosing a song.

Fixed it, sorry about the mishap. I had cross-referenced it from another forum I frequent on, and I didn't realize I had butchered the download link.

Whoa man, I fuckin' love this!!! A really valuable alternative to NTWICM!

If you're gonna make more updates, would you please include in next release the Donkey Kong Country 1 and Plok songs? (Last one has a truly outstanding OST, take a peek at this...)

Anyway, excellent job! Thanks! :thumb:

Ya know, I remember watching an the beginning of an LP of Plok and going "Wow this does not sound good."

Apparently all of the actually good songs are all later, holy shit. There are some really good gems in that soundtrack.

I kinda skipped DKC1 in favor of 2 and 3 mostly because of how quiet and ambient it was compared to the other 2. DKC1 was so quiet that it was hard to hear it in the middle of combat, so I opted not to include it. Really tho, if you wanted to add them in yourself, by all means go ahead!
Spoiler: Tiny, tiny tutorial here.

Heck yeah! Good to see some Runsaber tracks on here!! Is it possible to also create an alternative .wad version for Boom-compatible-ish ports like 3DGE?

I'm too lazy to make my own edit, but in the interest of an ultimate Doom SNES jukebox that I likely won't ever use because I'm too busy listening to the entire contents of ModArchive, some suggestions for good game soundtracks to search through I don't see listed here:

Arabian Nights
Edo no Kiba
Energy Breaker
Galaxy Robo
The Great Battle IV
Jim Power
Natsuki Crisis Battle
(Mighty Morphin') Power Rangers (Not the movie or fighting editions, those have far inferior soundtracks)
Shien: The Blade Chaser
Solid Runner
Star Ocean
Tales of Phantasia
Terranigma
Time Slip
Treasure Hunter G (try "Demihuman Battle")
Turrican 2 (I mean, I guess the first one has *okay* music)
Xak ("Fire and Water Elementals" is a personal favorite)
Verne World
Vortex
Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel

Just doing my part as an old music nerd.

Thanks.

Another Axelay? Or do you mean another soundtrack from different SHMUP games? As for Actraiser, you can add them yourself if you want, it's easy, especially if you only have to add a bunch of soundtracks from a single game. There's an instruction posted above and if you want to consume less time, just rename the SPC files correctly and the song no. in the language.txt inside the wad and their song titles/game for a little convenience. However if you're going to post them here it's a good idea to provide the composers' names and the genre of the game.

I'm planning to add the tracks from the games listed above and this but I have a nasty cold right now. Also there were some games that I forgot to add.

Needs to have music from the SNES game Timecop, though.

Oh, I assumed you'd just swapped out the game's normal soundtrack with the one from the SNES version (The best version of the soundtrack, IMO), but this is still neat, nonetheless... Not something I'd use, I'm afraid...
