As much as I support freedom of speech, I don't like how people use it as an excuse to say mean-spirited things which violate any rules of any place. Freedom of speech does not exactly mean more hate speech.

Also, to keep this from being out-of-topic, for new members, I suggest you take a look at my own mod if you want to know at least one bad mod other than Terrywads and Doomguy's Warzone.

Thank you for at least attempting to steer the conversation back on topic, but please, can we leave this thread uncluttered so new members don't feel daunted by whatever conversation seems to be going on here?

Thank you.

Never heard of this thread until now. I know it's been weeks since I joined. Anyway, this forum is nice and the community isn't that "flashy" compared to other forums out there. Also, it gives an easy access and news to some obscure and upcoming great Doom mods.

When I saw Doom's dynamic gameplay, SNES-esque graphics and similarity to Quake, I was quickly turned in to playing it most of the time. And don't get me started on the music.

Ah, so you started with the SNES version? I started with the Sega 32X version. When I first played it, I thought it was very awesome, being able to play a first-person shooter in a 32X (even though with an emulator), but after playing the rest of the other ports, it just feels disappointing nowadays. Not to mention the infamous fart-like music there.

Yeah, I started with the SNES one. Obviously it has lesser quality when compared to the original PC version, but their graphics aren't that much different from one another when compared.

I love the SNES one but even if it's the first port that I played, it won't top the PC version thanks to it's incomplete content and it's because enemies can only face you and nothing else. That makes infighting impossible, and I love that bit very much in the game.

IMO, that's what makes both the SNES and Sega 32X feel rather scary. I would rather recommend that version to those who are new to DOOM, so that they'll grow some fear for DOOM, because that's what it's actually meant to be. :P

Please refrain from having off-topic conversations in this thread. You have PMs for that. Thank you.

It's easy to get carried away, I know. Sorry if I've seemed rude, but there is a time and a place for idle chitchat, and this certainly isn't the place. Usually, anyway.

Hi I'm new and I love Zdoom

Post by Halcyon1988 »

I love the Zdoom engine it is absolutely sublime.

(Meanwhile I've been enjoying getting used to the absolute basics of Doombuilder 2. Done a thus far 1 level Heretic wad, very basic.

I'm using it in Zdoom Heretic in Hexen format.

I just need to get the difficulty level balancing handled is all. Hard to make the differences in the difficulty level jumps not too deep or shallow).

Pleased to meet you all. Zdoom forever.
