Charging money for mods was almost a thing!

If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

If you're okay with paid mods, but curse the 15% Valve tax on every transaction you might be a redneck capitalists.
Sorry comrades I thought I was one of you, but it appears I must travel further left before I get upset over this.
If I was a modder I'd hold out for than 25% though. If this ends up like those app stores anything over $1 will be an uphill battle to sell, and going by the outcry you got a small market to sell to.

There's a 24 hour refund policy. This violates the first Rule of Acquisition though so caveat emptor will probably still apply.

24 hour refund sounds reasonable, especially if no demo is available. Seeing that today's FPS games won't really offer more than 2-3 hours of single player entertainment, 24 hours is quite a generous policy. This seems far more fair indeed.

Apparently. You get a one week ban for refunding a mod. So good luck trying to refund multiple mods!

And yes. Your refund policy can expire within that time.

I guess this is a bad time to ask if anybody would care if I put Donate links on all my mods? =P

I'd consider donate links far more preferable since you're giving them the option to give support rather than forcing them to.

Whew! So they ban you for a time, if you refund something which is an absolute crap, and was created for the sole purpose of ripping off hopefuls? Gee, what a friendly policy!
I'd rather not express my opinion about this, wildweasel would have my balls for dinner...

Just realize, this is only for Skyrim mods. They will try this again with other games.

Weasel: You can try but they've been going around removing donation links like nuts.

I feel like the "ban" thing is being taken out of context; I went through a similar period of being unable to access the marketplace either after buying something in-game in TF2 or redeeming a pre-paid card, can't remember which it was. Probably the pre-paid card, since both that and the refund add to your Steam wallet.

It's not a ban per say, it's just restricted market access.

I'd say it's similar to how you can't resell an item from TF2 until after a week from the original purchase.

They've taken it down! The voice of the people has gotten through!

Of course, I'm sure they'll try something similar in the future. Maybe they'll even find a way to make it work (we can only hope).
...but we'll burn that bridge when we get to it. For now,
