Hey Term, have you done the grenade launcher special attack? Because I'm thinking that the special attack would be like a charged shot that unleashes a powerful explosion, and tremendous recoil and consumes about 10-20 grenade rounds.

I haven't, but that is basically what I'm planning on doing. With an inverted crucifix as the explosion, just because.

Will sound rather weird from me to say this what with the soul lack issues I keep experiencing and whatnot, but perhaps the soul gain while in Iron Maiden should be toned down a little.

One of the reasons I'm suggesting this is because it's kinda weird for a supposedly angelic weapon to be able to rip souls off like that, but the main reason has to be the fact that me and my friend while playing HR2 have both managed to get barely enough souls for a transform, kicked off map07 with a double Henshin and...

After seeing this Konami gif I fear that the iron maiden transformation may be a bit underwhelming.
Needs more FLASHING COLORS.

Hmmm... if only there were better HnK sprites sitting around, the Kharon could be YATATATA and the Iron Maiden could be some type of scroll or power orb with the music to make your shirt rupture off and start playing some appropriate music. Too bad that has the additional problem of not exactly being original content. Oh well. I prefer the other type of flower, anyway, heh heh heh.

I'll be honest, I don't like this. I don't like how the Kharon is dark and demonic because it drains souls, but then the Iron Maiden can do so anyway. I don't like how it's easy to punch a monster, it gets killed by the explosion damage, and you don't get your investment back. I don't like how it's an obvious game-y justification to maintain it.
An anon on /vr/ said one way to justify it is that you punch them so hard that you literally rip their soul from their body, but that doesn't sit 100% with me.

There's going to be some tweaks to Iron Maiden's fueling thing sometime down the line. I don't quite know how, when, or where, but expect changes.

In the meantime, have a random development screenshot.

...man, there's a whole ton of changes. Even just one single, random screenshot shows off a lot, I count about eight differences in this shot from v0.74.

I wonder if I can get this out in time for Valentine's Day? ...probably not.

Well those Souls are demonic souls so it's justified. It's not like you're cutting down innocent souls. Hae-Lin is *forever* alone in a mass hordes of demonic incursion. Come on Hae-Lin is an Angel of Death. Kharon is her reaping scythe. Dark? Sure. Demonic? Absolutely not.

The damned are being punished (yet again) for their sins and you are the one who's doing it. In order to properly punish them (seeing as Hell isn't enough, apparently) you have decided to not only slay them again, but force their souls into the servitude of their enemy.

Not dark anymore, nor is it demonic; it's war.

Looking at various other games that employ a "soul ripping" ability to utilize it for power, it's not terribly hard to make it not-demonic or evil/dark. Just make sure the emphasis is on the fact that your enemies are truly evil and deserve it.

EDIT: The game "Prey" comes to mind when you think about the "soul ripping" ability (as you must harvest the souls of alien hostiles to power a bow in Spirit mode).

The main problem really is not the illogicality of the Iron Maiden soul ripping. The armor is already powered by demonic souls(hey, when it's going to be used primarily as a weapon against huge hordes of demons, making the thing run OFF the deaths of those demons is as good an idea as any!), so it's not too far-fetched to have it reap souls after all. I presume Hae Lin is not a fully proper angel and thus lacks some of the equipment other angels have(like soul containers), so when not in use, the souls are just automatically routed to Kharon(or both Kharon and Iron Saviour are just flexible enough to share souls between each other upon demand). Makes sense if you think about it.

The real problem is me being able to use it for exactly half a megawad straight on a not-really-slaughterish mappack without a single stop and with a friend running around and stealing roughly half my kills.

Bug report: Facing Hell, if I have over-life tokens I can nom on apples for MORE over-life tokens. Not sure if it happens with cans

1) improved frosthammer effect
2) icon for frosthammer ammo
3) blue meter no longer blue
4) different blood effects?

Can't seem to be able to figure out the rest though.

That's not a bug. You can restore your over-life tokens like they were normal life tokens, as long as you have at least one over-life token.
