Prefered Linux distro.

So people, what is your goto Linux distro?(Any open source kernel is ok, excluding Darwin) I haven't really touched a linux PC(excluding android) in about a year, so things may have changed. Back when I used manjaro regularly, and it worked great. Until I missed some updates and when I did update stuff broke.

The last time I had a Linux distro installed, it was Crunchbang Waldorf. The only really frustrating part of it, though, was being limited to just what was in the Debian repositories; I had significant headaches trying to install things from Launchpad PPAs because none of them recognized "waldorf" as a distro. I'm sure there's a workaround for that to force it to look for Debian version names instead, but it escaped me at the time. Nowadays, I don't have Linux installed on any of my machines.

Mint is a bit too simple for me. Not bad for newbies or people that want to put in minimal effort. Also I really can't live without the AUR on linux.

It's pretty much the only distro I've really used. All other distros that I've tried to run on VMWare Player ended up freezing because my computer is shit.

Hmmm....in all honesty, if I were to run a Linux again, it would be through a VM...though for some reason, I've been having trouble even installing any of them through Oracle Virtualbox. Honestly, though, the only things I really want out of a Linux distro are the CLI apps and a really nice-looking terminal emulator to run them within. I'd love to have, say, a Windows version of cool-retro-term; I've managed to run it in a VMWare Workstation version of Kubuntu, but it had some awful glitches that proved too distracting to deal with (such as it flashing the wallpaper over top of the actual terminal).

Corel Linux.

I have being trying several distro over the years, but the ones I have being using the most would be Linux Mint and Debian.

I used it in place of Windows Vista on an old laptop when I was crunched for money one time, and it was superior to Vista. I don't do a lot of major OS programming with my computers, I just thought it was a solid, simple OS.

*twitches* Eh, I suppose I can let that slide since Debian can use the FreeBSD kernel, so I suppose there's at least one non-Linux answer to that question that isn't a contradiction.

Since I recently had to correct myself on this, I will point out the Kernel of OS X and Darwin is called XNU. Darwin is the free XNU distro which nobody uses. But of course neither Darwin or OS X are Linux distros, so they were already excluded by your question.

I didn't know that. And by any open source kernel I mean BSD, Minix, etc. count also. Just not as linux distros.

#! Waldorf on my main now. Only non-trivial problem I've had with it is Debian Stable not having certain libraries up to date.
(also Conky keeps randomly crashing for no apparent reason when I run MOC but that's probably an issue on my end.)

Keeping Mint (LMDE) in a virtual machine for the sake of Steam and the occasional Flash thing.

AntiX on my netbook, and on the various computers of family and friends who need an OS installed on an older machine.
