[WIP] Brutal Noise
My first ever doom related mod/pk3. And what way to start off by making sound modifications, by using sounds from various sources including freesounds and using Audacity to edit all of them for use in Brutal Doom! Yay! All it does is replace weapon related things. Only thing I've gotten close to finishing right now is weapon fire, I want to try and make sound more heavy and more satisfying to hear. I uploaded test versions, but after a while I felt like it was a bad idea, feeling how unready and unpolished it was at the moment, all the sound effects sounded off cue, and made several ears bleed. Let me just say that I regret all of that. And hey, if this fails miserably (which it probably will, seeing how this is my first time actually doing all this) we still got PerKristians sfx mod and the default high quality PK sound effects for BD, which is way higher quality than my silly junk will ever be. So, I'll be slowly posting posting my progress on this and even be postin' some videos of them in action very soon.

Re: Brutal Noise
Hate to be bumping this already, but I just polished and finished the cocking sounds for the shotgun. Didn't include it in the package because it felt off cue and wasn't loud enough to hear. I'll be posting a updated link with it included if you guys want.
Re: Brutal Noise
It looks like you packaged the entirety of Brutal Doom along with your sound replacement.
Re: Brutal Noise
I haven't tried it out yet but I thought I'd say that I think it's nice to see a sound mod. Most folks go straight into graphics leaving the sound aspect as something usually added to weapons mods or the like. I'll try it out after work. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Brutal Noise
I forgot once again. I finished this off late at night so I guess I forgot, possibly due to me being extremely tired. Wanted to check out if I got any replies, so its really late where I am. I'll go ahead and change it right now. Easy to do, and I'll upload it shortly. Just me being a idiot once again. But do you like it at all? Anything out of place sounding, or just plain bad sounding?jpalomo wrote:It looks like you packaged the entirety of Brutal Doom along with your sound replacement.

Re: Brutal Noise
Thank ya man, this is my first time ever making a modification to doom, so it took a while. I hope you enjoy it if you download it!Average wrote:I haven't tried it out yet but I thought I'd say that I think it's nice to see a sound mod. Re: Brutal Noise
Ok, new download link third one I put up tonight. Everything is here, smaller file size (12 MB Nearly), doesn't come with BD which was a really bad mistake that a reply(jpalomo) made me realize. To play, just click on your brutal doom v19 pk3 and the Brutal Noise pk3 and drag it to gzdoom, you guys know the drill. Enjoy!
Re: Brutal Noise
I see you also included Perkristian's HQ sound effects in there.
Anyway, I noticed that all of the sound effects are related to Brutal Doom, and I thought Brutal Noise was a cool project name, so I downloaded it thinking it's for Vanilla Doom... Anyways, it's really the same for now.
EDIT: In fact, over half of these are still Perkristian's as far as Vanilla replacements go.

Re: Brutal Noise
I actually had no idea about this until now. And now since I dug up my old sfx wad from him, it does sound very similar especially the shotgun sounds, while the pistol was nearly exact but sounded more heavy sounding. But this specific version was made around brutal, however I think I'll make a totally different version of Brutal Noise for vanilla, and make it so its less like Perks in terms of vanilla. None of perkristian's work was included in my pk3. They just sound very identical, and I think I'll rework them to make them sound less so.FireHusky wrote:I see you also included Perkristian's HQ sound effects in there.

TBH, I'm gonna call you out because they sound the same, and they have the same sounds that have the same filesize.SenorSkeletor wrote:I actually had no idea about this until now. Re: Brutal Noise
I'm sorry, this is a joke right? I listened, and the sounds are exactly the same. If you made them, even if they sounded "very identical" by total coincidence, there would be differences.SenorSkeletor wrote:None of perkristian's work was included in my pk3. EDIT: Just noticed FireHusky's post above, which he posted while I was typing. Confirming that file sizes are identical. Give credit where credit is due, and do not try to plagiarize.

Re: Brutal Noise
I did not take anything from Perks, and thats final. Not everything was changed. The only files I replaced at all and put in were new files that I replaced as of yet, this is my progress:TheMightyHeracross wrote:I'm sorry, this is a joke right? These were all edited by me, I noticed very strong similarities to the pistol shot and the shotgun cock, and I'm working on replacing them. I used a clean bd19 pk3 as my starting zone. I'm not sure if bd19 uses Perk's sfx. I would NEVER plagiarize from Perk, since I respect his skills, and I love the work he puts out. All these were edited and used with audacity and downloaded from freesound.org. I have all the original file names from freesound.org if that helps in the slightest.

Re: Brutal Noise
Then how do you explain the picture above? Not every sound is ripped from PK, however there are many of his sounds in your project. I am not talking about the sounds you listed, I am talking about the other sounds, a fairly large amount of which are PK's.

Re: Brutal Noise
Ok, Ok. I know what you guys are talking about. I didn't even use the HD file where you found all those, that was completely untouched. All those replaced files can be found in the base sound folder, and in the Combat folder. Thats where I put everything, just so I could find the files easily. The Sound effects I posted above all are replaced, if you manage to find them you'll notice that there changed. Painfully new to this, and didn't even know I was supposed to put them into the HD sound effects folder, so its juts me being an idiot. Once again.SenorSkeletor wrote:I did not take anything from Perks, and thats final. Not everything was changed. That line is nearly all the way at the bottom.brutaldoom credits.txt wrote:HD Doom sounds by Perkristian
Guess it's not so final if you read the credits, you're right that you took the sounds from Brutal Doom, but that doesn't mean it's not Perkristian's SFX.
