For realistic medieval weapons as sprites, Witchaven is the best source I can think of.

Edit: And Witchaven II has some human enemies, but they look more like guys from an 80s sword & sorcery movie so I don't know if they're realistic enough for you.

Bouncy's Might and Magic resource has a few medieval style soldiers and knights.

I could really use a utility that will take a bunch of loose .PNGs and put them together into a single sprite sheet, something like this.

Criteria:
- Should arrange the sprites by input file name (i.e. your DUMBA1, DUMBA2A8, DUMBA3A7 and so forth should all come out neatly in order)
- Should arrange the sprites with reasonably even spacing around them. A bit of blank margin between them for cut 'n' paste edits are also useful.
- Should not scale the input sprites
- Should not rotate the input sprites
- Should be free (as in beer)
- Should work on Windows XP

I wouldn't have thought this was a lot to ask, but all the programs I've found so far either want to be 'clever' and 'optimize' the sheets, or they're actually thumbnailers that scale stuff down that I don't want scaled. I think when I was on Linux I'd worked out some arcane invocation of ImageMagick that worked, but I'd prefer a solution that's usable by human beings.

Sprite Sheet Packer might work for you, but it does not arrange it in order.

That was one of the ones I just tried, and as you say it scrambles the sprite order; worthless.

Or how about DarkFunction? I haven't tested it out myself.

This also doesn't keep things ordered, though it at least allows the sprites to be dragged around manually after the fact. Still looking for something a little more automated than that, though.

It looks like you have to be patient for more development in those two programs, Sure it's a pain doing it manually yourself, but it turns out looking great in the end though.

Have you thought of extracting the data from the game itself? For what platform?

Is there a kick sprite that would work for a teenage mutant ninja turtle?(I could recolor it.) Also, there's a Descent 3?

have you considered just storing them in a .zip and calling it a day instead of making everyone that wants the sprites agonizingly cut them out?

I mean sure, sheets look good on paper - but they function rather badly.

Function rather badly? Ever try to recolor or edit something as individual sprites only? It's a pain to get them consistent that way.

Also, ETTiNGRiNDER, did you try Spricer yet? I couldn't get good results from it but you might be able to.

Does anyone know where I could get some smaller enemies for Heretic/Hexen? I'm looking for something smaller than the ettin. Just sprites would be fine, but a fully coded enemy would be tops.

Nevermind the kick, but does anyone know of a thermite grenade projectile sprite?
