Adjustable layers? of course, I mean if thats better than GIMP or mspaint, but people have their own opinions...
Here is how it looks like:

There's a difference between adjustment layers [pic] ("adjustment" is a noun) and adjustable (which is a verb!) layers.

Judging by the little black/white circle then you probably have them.

i'd get Photoshop myself if it didn't have such a ridiculously high price, though now it seems that the only way to get any Adobe products is to get a Creative Cloud subscription, which is something i have little use of. hell, FL Studio is more affordable than that, even though getting all the plugins in a bundle ramps up the cost quite a bit (still seems like it was some hundred euros cheaper than just getting Photoshop however).

Ghost, youve gained my interest... What program is that? Every tool has its purpose and some might feel comfortable using one tool for its made or certain jobs while others to other jobs.
Edit skratch my question, mentally challanged smart phone gives limited view.

Thanks to that I am done with adobe. Not willing to pay ransom for very basic tools of my trade. Also the price is outrageous.

It's adobe photoshop elements 10, It came with my computer when I bought it, however there is photoshop elements 12, but its really expensive.
I think I will stick with photoshop elements 10 for now.

Well, I like it in red, like it is. And it'd also allow modders to use translation on it easy this way :)

If you are going to try to cater for translations, avoiding red is a good idea. Otherwise your translation will affect the blood too (if there is any on the sprite).

Now that I know about tinting, here's another draft of the monster in red:

I'm not sure how well it will work with translations, but I think it's turning out quite nicely.

Which reminds me that the death animation is going to be a huge pain to sprite. :blergh:

If you want to translate things then you should make them gray, as that's the easiest and (except for dark tones) the broadest range in the palette.
red is an awful color to have a sprite in if you can't avoid having it doom paletted

While you are absolutely correct about the greys having the most entries, it is not unusual for some of those greys to be needed for teeth, claws, eyes etc. Personally, I tend to go for the player greens. I know that the range is a bit limited (especially compared to the greys) but that bright green range tends to be less useful as a colour for other parts of an enemy and, therefore, is easy to use as a clean range of colours for translation that are less likely to be useful for parts of the sprite that you don't want to translate.

A hand-drawn gun I've been working on, still working on an extra transitional frame.

And uh, me goofing off with some of my resources from something else I'm working on:

Reason: The original image is kind of pushing it; the least we can do is tuck it away in a spoiler for now.
