The Still New What Did You Last Do Thread
Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
No work today, so I'm currently messing around with the zdoom source. I changed the way jumping works on my local build. I managed to get it to behave similarly to how Wrack handles it: you can't hold the jump key to continuously jump, but you can prepare a jump in mid-air that will occur the next time you hit the ground and are still holding jump. It makes the platforming sections in this a heck of a lot easier.

Please submit as a configurable user option (or a modding feature) to the official ZDoom codebase please. Please. If you could shrink the side of the missile launcher in the back just a tiny bit to "foreshorten" it, that'd be greeeeat.

What do you guys do when you run out of mapping motivation?
Eh.

Eh.
Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Just stop mapping for a while, and take a break. You might reinvigorate your motivation by not mapping so frequently.

same as with all kinds of art, i guess: spend some time not doing anything. i've had an art-block for some weeks now. all i've managed to do recently is recolour the lenses of my character's glasses, and this doodle.

Spent 2 hours waiting on someone to come back for RP to get started, and instantly lost that RPer due to storyline inconsistencies. I could have been putting finishing touches on a base or something.

Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
The fan in my laptop died, so I called HP, and tried installing new things (didn't work) so now I have to talk to the warranty people tomorrow when they're open and see about getting the laptop fixed. In the mean time I'll probably yank the drive from the laptop, run USB from it to my desktop, and boot from it so that I can use it. If it comes down to it I'll carry my monster of a desktop around If I have too since I need it for classes. AND on top of all that, after I got off the phone with HP I got some worried texts from a friend who was freaking out because her BF was going to phone her when he got home safe, but hadn't called her, and wasn't answering his phone. So I drove to his house to see if he was home, and there's his car in the driveway safe and sound. It's good that he's okay, but I'd rather not have to worry that a friend may have had an accident and be stuck in a ditch somewhere. This is not what I wanted to do at 2 in the morning; tonight sucked.

Yeah, I had something similar to this happen last year, was quite unpleasant. Luckily both of these resolved themselves fine, minus the worry damage on our minds, heh.zrrion the insect wrote:AND on top of all that, after I got off the phone with HP I got some worried texts from a friend who was freaking out because her BF was going to phone her when he got home safe, but hadn't called her, and wasn't answering his phone. So I slept for 10 & a 1/2 hours today, can't tell if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Alright this whole "Steam overlay/ingame community not working" issue is starting to ANNOY THE SHIT OUT OF ME. NOTHING works, not even flushing Steam settings. Now I can deduce only 2 culprits... one of those random Steam client updates, or one of the recent nvidia updates. It's annoying because I can't open wikis while playing crash-heavy games like Fallout 3 or Morrowind where Alt Tabbing just does NOT work - but also now my modded Oblivion does NOT work because it relies on the ingame community mechanics to load OBSE along with it. My Oblivion setup is broken to shit right now because the stupid overlay thing isn't working.
Does anyone know how I can track down older versions of nvidia drivers and install those on my computer? The nvidia site only allows me to download the latest version.

Works For Me™
I just launch ZDL with steam and then launch GZDoom with that.
Works™.
