Zauberer
The current release of Zauberer is available here: https://github.com/CireG/Zauberer
NOTE: Currently only run in ZDoom and ports derived from it because of its incompleteness.
A few textures, sprites and sounds are replaced, some taken from Blasphemer, which overlaps between Heretic and Hexen. Any kind of contributions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: "FreeHexen"
Oh geez... please complete FreeDoom or Blasphemer first, before we're stuck with three incomplete "free" knockoffs. I'd like the idea more, if the pace of the creation of either of those titles was a bit better.

Re: "FreeHexen"
Why did you release it like this? This isn't even playable yet. There aren't even any maps.

Re: "FreeHexen"
That's because no one has contributed any map and I'm no mapper myself.

Re: "FreeHexen"
But there is not real content at all. Much of what little is in there isn't set up for Hexen anyway. You'd be almost as well just releasing a WAD with nothing in it.

Re: "FreeHexen"
What's wrong with the WAD? I did this manually by checking for entries between the Heretic and Hexen IWADs to see what overlapped, so I guess I could have missed something. Is that the case? I know there isn't much in the WAD but it's a start at least.

Re: "FreeHexen"
That's the point. It's a start, not a functioning WAD. Why release it before it's even playable?Cire wrote:it's a start at least.

Re: "FreeHexen"
Why not?
It's functional enough to start in ZDoom derived engines and can load PWADs, so it's not totally non-functional.

Re: "FreeHexen"
Anybody remember how Freedoom started? Pretty sure all they had at first was the Imp replacement, some "Jimmy Hart versions" of the Doom 2 MIDIs, and the font.

Re: "FreeHexen"
Did they really release it as a playable at that point?

Re: "FreeHexen"
Ok, so we at least agree this isn't playable. But that was my point all along. It's rather strange to make a "public release" (your words, not mine) of a game project before it's even playable.

It's a release and it's public. What's strange?

Re: "FreeHexen"
Why is it recycling resources from another "free" game/title? Wouldn't be better to have stuff made specifically for it, instead?Cire wrote:A few textures, sprites and sounds are replaced, taken from Blasphemer,...
