Re: qZDL 3.0.5.12 Released (UPDATED July 6th 2012)

A little help please. qzdl 3.2.0.1 is telling me that there is an update available but all I can find to download are source files. I'm sure the binary must be there *somewhere* and I have downloaded previous betas but I'm not seeing the wood for the trees this time. Can you tell me exactly where to get the built binaries for the most recent beta commit? Thanks.

If you have any requests or bug reports, please feel free to post them. I've done a decent job of knocking them down.

I have some big plans coming up, but I'm focusing on making those big plans compatible with how you (and others) like a small and minimalistic.

I can't reproduce, can you throw the zdl.log (following the instructions here: http://zdl.vectec.ca/wiki/Support) and throwing that and your configuration files in a pastebin? You can PM me the pastebin URL as the logs may contain personal information (path names tend to have user names, which may contain real names).

Edit: Grammar

If I uncheck "show file paths" and check "close on launch" then it gets saved, but not by itself ! That should help you figure it out.

I will PM you the log right away in case you can't track it down

Does the update checker work for the 3.2 betas ?

Will I get the option to update ? When pressing the button nothing happens.

Most definitely. Beta builds follow their own update path, once an update is available you will be notified.

There's no current want to see the update checker in action such as in ZDLSharp.

Edit: Look in your qZDL.ini file, it'll tell you when it last checked for updates:

Code: Select all

Ah, ok. The test version you sent me seems to work fine with regards to the bug by the way.

If I bump into anything else, I'll let you know. Also, would you consider IWAD validation/version identification based on hardcoded md5 sums ?

So it can list doom2.wad as [1.9] if the md5 matches that, or [modified] if it doesn't match any known versions ....

That's in plan for 3.4.0.0 (http://zdl.vectec.ca/wiki/Roadmap)

Will this be bundled with the Macintosh ZDoom releases, so when you double click ZDoom.App, you run this front-end, which in turn runs the ZDoom executable?

There are currently no plans to bundle ZDL with ZDoom.

Further, there's no ZDL for Mac at the moment due to lack of physical and programmer resources. I have no eta, but I'd love to support OSX.

Hellser wrote:Loving qZDL. Been using it for about a week or so right now, and haven't encountered any bugs. It is a strong little program though. I like it!

However, I do have one gripe.

The Gripe: Unable to move more than one file up and down the loading list. It's a minor thing, but at most, I have three/four wads/pk3s loaded up, and I would have to move a few things to ensure everything loads correctly. Don't mind too much on moving one at a time, but being able to move multiple files would be nice.
I've fixed this in 3.2.1.0
