.
For the link to work properly, the dot behind zip must be removed.

I downloaded wolfdoom.zip and ran it both with 47 and 47i without crashing.
However, I have Windows ME.

Yup, true. Blame it on phpBB's inability to correctly parse URLs. ;)

What about your two dots at the start and end of each post?

Mark that one up to personal preference. I like to see some space between the start / end of text
and the surrounding frame. And the dot is the least obtrusive character, since an extra line break
does not work.

The least obstrusive character would be a whitespace, I think. I'm not sure if phpBB's "HTML is OFF" also applies to entities, but I'm quite sure that some trickery with tags etc. would be able to produce the desired effect. ^_~

Crash confirmed with 2.0.47. It works fine with the current version, so I assume this was fixed.

No. The source right now compiles with 203 "errors" as I make the switch from a memory-mapped I/O wad system to a normal file I/O wad system.

In layman's terms (if possible), what's the difference and what will be the benefits?

From the user's point of view, there is no difference. This is strictly behind-the-scenes stuff.
