That looks fairly good, Dark Fox! Her right hand looks...Angled the wrong way, though. Unless she's holding it palm side out.

internet finally came back here. went off 2 days ago due to a bill that had not been paid.
although i don't complain: it made me get off my daily routine and do other stuff instead: taking a 2 hour long walk, playing Secret of Mana with my brother, going shopping with my father... doubt i would have done any of that except the last thing if internet were on here (the shopping was planned a week by me, because i wanted to get and try some clothes of the opposite gender).

I was applying for jobs at a library terminal. At least I was trying to. Some stupid fucking kid was playing some shitty online FPS and he wouldn't shut the fuck up about it. Hard to concentrate on jobs when some little shit's going, "O U K1LLD ME. DUMB UUUUU!!!!." I was so tempted to cold-cock him in the face and yell, "Shut it, kid." I'm pretty sure everyone else wanted to do it, too.

Should have just told the little shit to shut up.
Good luck with looking for more jobs by the way- I've been lucky and the last 4 days I've been doing my work placement I've been doing well, tills are almost no problem now and stacking shelves and other jobs are sorted already...
The manager is a really nice bloke too and said that when a proper place comes up I'll be the first in line for it~

So, been playing Dwarf Fortress. Had some !!fun!! moments:

My embark zone is a heavily-forested canyon with a river running close to one of the sides, close to where my fortress is. I dig into the side, and immediately found hematite, tetrahedrite and lignite while digging out my fortress (Yay! Metal production right from the get-go!). After digging down a bit more, I found SEVERAL, MASSIVE veins of native gold and a few veins of silver. I start thinking my main export will be electrum and gold. The first merchants arrived, but couldn't get to my fortress. Not sure why, but they stood there for almost a year and starved to death, basically donating their goods to my cause. Kobold thieves and goblin snatchers start showing up. Not a huge problem, stationed my one military dorf at the front, and started making some defensive emplacements (made a nice-looking guard tower at the front door :D ). ...Then the ambush hit. Four goblin swordsmen walked in and slaughtered my whole fortress.

Luckily, I savescum horribly. I went back to before this happened and turned off invaders in the init file (I'm still learning, I don't want to have !!fun!! so early in a good location). So, with that taken care of, I started kicking off my main production, and building a path for future caravans. My weaponsmith got a strange mood, grabbed a clear zircon and some bars of electrum and made a pretty nice spear.

Then, my first* real battle took place. Every year around late summer, a stampede of wild boars comes through, usually passing close to my fortress. It always makes me nervous, so I set up a ton of cage traps in the path they usually take, figuring at the very least I could get some meat out of it. Unfortunately, they caught a half-dozen ravens. As my stoneworker and fisherdwarf were walking over to bring them inside, the rest of them swarmed the two. One got a bruised cheek, the other got a broken toe. My speardwarf walked over, splattered one of them, and they buzzed off. I was pretty proud of myself. I need to edit the raws for ravens so I can do something useful with them.

After I finished working out the area so the caravan could get to me, the first* caravan showed up. I put my now-legendary weaponsmith make an axe with some leftover steel, and I got my crafts and raven cages ready to trade. Turns out the exceptional-quality battleaxe was all they needed. I was able to buy everything I needed with it, a lot of things I didn't really need, and the merchants STILL went away with a huge profit. The really funny thing is right after they left, I made three more. All three were higher-quality than the one I sold, and each one was worth more than double the price. And I have no shortage of iron, fuel and pig iron; I can keep on making these! :D

tl;dr, dorfs is fun!

* == first that counts

I started playing Last Rites again, having gotten through my old "impassable" point. I can't really say that it gets any better the more you play it. It actually gets worse, as the levels become larger and more maze-like, and you typically have no fricken' clue what to do or where to go. The switches are probably the worst part. Often times you hit one without the slightest idea of what it actually did because it operated a door/elevator/walkway on the other side of the map. The levels tend to be really redundant, too. Pretty much City -> Mall -> City -> Mall, etc. It doesn't start to change till level six, and this is what you get - -

In game all that green shit glows, and lawd does it hurt.
